I won't lie, I have been reading about PRS comp and it sounds fun. However I just don't have the experience with either long range shooting nor with the type of optics used and the use thereof.
But I'd like to learn.

I dont know anything about benchrest shooting but this is what I would suggest for starting to learn optics wise. There is a App called Strelok Pro,,,its in the google play store and its in whatever apple has for App store. The App is 12 bucks. More than likely one of the scopes you own has a reticle that is listed in the data section. Best scopes to use for learning are either MOA or MRAD scopes. Either way,,,if your reticle shows up in the app you can learn how to zero at 100 and learn how to use your turrets to shoot out to 1000 and beyond. The app has you list everything about the round your using, length, velocity, weight, BC etc.
Look it up,,,,,oh one more thing,,,they have a free version. The paid version has a shit ton of extra stuff to it,,,more info for setup and way more reticles.

PS. The guy who made the app updates it all the time with his users preferences,,,he's a Russian on facebook

I have only 1 scope, the Kahles K16i 1-6, and Strelok has nothing listed for that model. Which I find weird since it's supposed to be a top level 3 gun scope.

Android. I actually downloaded Strelok, heard it mentioned numerous times on my favorite gun channels. Uninstalled after I saw nothing for the K16i on there. Reticle I have is the SM1.

I'd suggest the Viper to start. Can be had for half that cost.

Wasn't that long ago precision rilfes used fixed 6x scopes. The app also gives info on holds for the hashmarks.

Vipers are getting cheaper too.

Razor HD (not Gen II) comes in just under $2,000 and meets all criteria @squib listed.
I dunno what the gen IIs add over the regular HDs but if the glass quality is the same its fantastic. In really like Vortex's Razor line so it'd be nice to have a rifle with one.

Most of the Nightforce NXS scopes too.

This is an excellent first time PRS scope made by Nikon. I have the MOA version. I got a discount from a manufacturers rep. Its my first,, First Focal Plane scope and I love it. Even at $800 dollars its still cheaper than the rest of them.

I read it's a $2,000 limit just like the rifle. The price limits are based on MSRP.

No, but for my purposes loading data from the cartridge database should suffice.
Oh, is Strelok assuming a 100 yard zero? Where would I change zero data. So much more going on in Pro and I am a bit lost.
