I won't lie, I have been reading about PRS comp and it sounds fun. However I just don't have the experience with either long range shooting nor with the type of optics used and the use thereof. If you are buying optic to play the precision rifle game I would suggest these features:
christmas tree style reticle
turrets that match reticle mil/mil or moa/moa
max. pwr of 15x at minimum
zero stop
adj. parallax

But I'd like to learn.
I have only 1 scope, the Kahles K16i 1-6, and Strelok has nothing listed for that model. Which I find weird since it's supposed to be a top level 3 gun scope.I dont know anything about benchrest shooting but this is what I would suggest for starting to learn optics wise. There is a App called Strelok Pro,,,its in the google play store and its in whatever apple has for App store. The App is 12 bucks. More than likely one of the scopes you own has a reticle that is listed in the data section. Best scopes to use for learning are either MOA or MRAD scopes. Either way,,,if your reticle shows up in the app you can learn how to zero at 100 and learn how to use your turrets to shoot out to 1000 and beyond. The app has you list everything about the round your using, length, velocity, weight, BC etc.
Look it up,,,,,oh one more thing,,,they have a free version. The paid version has a shit ton of extra stuff to it,,,more info for setup and way more reticles.
PS. The guy who made the app updates it all the time with his users preferences,,,he's a Russian on facebook
Android. I actually downloaded Strelok, heard it mentioned numerous times on my favorite gun channels. Uninstalled after I saw nothing for the K16i on there. Reticle I have is the SM1.I will write and ask him to put it in. I have the link to your manual that I will add to the question I ask him. Whats your phone,,,android or apple?
You getting kickbacks?I will write him now and I will let you know when Strelok Pro has updated. Its the Pro version you want to download.
I would think it wasnt on there due to low magnification.I have only 1 scope, the Kahles K16i 1-6, and Strelok has nothing listed for that model. Which I find weird since it's supposed to be a top level 3 gun scope.
I'd suggest the Viper to start. Can be had for half that cost.
you would think but many people use this app for BB gunsI would think it wasnt on there due to low magnification.
Wasn't that long ago precision rilfes used fixed 6x scopes. The app also gives info on holds for the hashmarks.I would think it wasnt on there due to low magnification.
Vipers are getting cheaper too.I'd suggest the Viper to start. Can be had for half that cost.
Most of the Nightforce NXS scopes too.The razor hd gen 2 are under $2k on eurooptics. They charge tax now
Is there a limit on scope prices? I know nothing about prsMost of the Nightforce NXS scopes too.
I did some research and PRS production spec is based of MSRP.
I read it's a $2,000 limit just like the rifle. The price limits are based on MSRP.Is there a limit on scope prices? I know nothing about prs
I just found the rules, just started reading it. I am going to do some research on prs. Looks fun.I read it's a $2,000 limit just like the rifle. The price limits are based on MSRP.
Haven't downloaded yet. I will soon. Thank you very much for putting the word in!Did you find your scope in the App?
No, but for my purposes loading data from the cartridge database should suffice.Sweet!!! Looks just like the reticle I saw in your manual. I havent used the app much but if you have any questions,,,,you might stand a chance of me being able to answer them.
Do you have a Chronograph? If you dont,,,sometimes this one gets shitty reviews but it has worked perfectly for me. Its another thing that I have never owned but do now. MagnetoSpeed Sporter Chronograph
