Framer wanted the military to be controlled by the people. Volunteers called to service, the misuse of standing armies was a concern to the framers. Standing army should never be armed on US soil. Hence state militias under governors (the peoples) direction. You can read the federalist and anti federalist papers its well documented.
To have Posse Comitatus and then the insurrection act of 1807 goes to show how fast politicians started tossing the constitution aside. its not a complex document and if applied as intended makes allot of sense.
It suppose to take an act of congress not the whim of a president.

Yep. We weren’t supposed to have standing armies at all. No National Guard either. It was always supposed to be state militias. Volunteers made up of the people themselves.
And to go even further as far as law enforcement goes, police weren’t even supposed to exist state according to many state constitutions. It was supposed to be an Elected Sheriff and his deputies so that the people themselves can elect and control law enforcement.
The sad thing is that over years the government got to big, threw the constitution aside and did what they wanted anyway . Now people just accept it because it’s always been like that for them.
Now they accept federal police and federal armies, National Guards, and all unconstitutional laws that are currently enforced.
We should really apologize to Great Britain. We created a government that started out good and turned it worse than Great Britain themselves.

The 2A guarantees the rights of the Militia, but the constitution specifically also authorizes an Army and Navy and makes clear that they are separate and distinct from the militia.

But then again i think im in the minority of people who have actually read the entire constitution once through and then read the federalist and anti federalist papers to try to get a grasp of what they where trying to accomplish.

The Congress shall have Power To ...raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years....
This was in case of wars abroad or if needed for when under attack. Not as a permanent solution to keep waging war abroad. After the war, it was supposed to be disbanded and the militias were for home defense.

But there was no prohibition on a standing army, only that it had to be funded 2 years at a time.
And the Navy was expected to be permanent.
Hopefully they brought all the 240Bs and lots of freedom seeds with the helicopters.
Our constitution will not exist as it is in 20 years.....maybe less.
I recently saw a poll where the results were that 60% of 18-25 year olds believe the constitution should be adjusted to reflect current times.
And 48% think that it could be completely rewritten.
I know poll numbers suck but it does show that many of the younger generation are willing to change or abolish our constitution.
Our rights are more in danger now than ever.
In a few years we may not have it at all.
And before I get smacked around.....I do know that a majority vote cannot change the constitution but if the majority agree, the constitution can be amended.

If that’s the case that’s fine. I had no idea their mission plan/statement was to protect Washington DC. I thought all military was foreign except the guard.
I also know there was a bomb scare outside the whitehouse that they hushed up pretty bad.

The Insurrection Act gives the "President" broad authority to use military for domestic law enforcement action, and if you read the scope, if there is a lack of confidence in local authorities to handle any threat to the establishment, lol.

Don't forget, with all the surveillance he has access to, he may know something we all don't. And that's ok.

Doesn't the fact we have to use, or potentially use, military weapons to protect people give more reason for why citizens should have them? It's one thing for politicians to say "no one needs an AR-15" when things are quiet. It's not a valid argument, but it holds more weight.
But when people are burning down cars and homes and businesses, and the police can't be everywhere at once (just a fact), it's hard to make the case people shouldn't be able to defend themselves against this sort of garbage.
