This debate is pointless. I’ve said it before and I will keep saying. 1) Shot placement and speed of accurate repeated shots matter more than whatever pistol cartridge you carry. Carry the biggest reliable pistol cartridge you can accurately shoot the fastest. 2) capacity matters more than caliber size. I’ve never heard anyone say “I had too many rounds available too me in that gunfight that just happened”.
I would be far more afraid of the man with 10 rounds of 32acp that knows how to accurately mag dump the magazine into a human skull size target at 15 yards than the man with a 44 magnum 6 shooter who can’t hit a man sized target at 5 yards.

I do agree shot placement is everything. If you can’t hit what you are intending to hit there is no sense in skinning the smoke wagon.

Just like @That_FNG said, shot placement is much more crucial than the caliber itself. If shot placement is more critical, wouldn’t you choose the caliber that allows for better follow up shot placement than the other? It’s not just a concept that 45acp recoils more than 9mm but just a plain fact. With modern technology of cartridges being what it is, 9mm is able to inflict comparative damage (and sometimes better) to soft tissue and barriers than it’s big brother. I’m not saying shooters are not able to shoot 45acp quickly, cause they can. But if you can shoot 45acp quickly, you can shoot 9mm quicker. 9mm recoils less, which means quicker follow up shots, more rounds on target accurately, you can carry more rounds, it’s physically less weight to carry than 45acp, it is cheaper to shoot. If more people were honest with themselves and weighed the pro’s and con’s, there would be even more people carrying 9mm than before.
