Horrible.
I think the worse part is knowing there are lunatics and/or terrorists coming after you and not only you do not have any means
for protection but you are in a "gun free" zone.
Feeling defenseless is much worse than being threatened like that. Seeing people drop like jack rabbits and not being able to do
anything effective is a very dreadful feeling.
I am not trying to do politics. This is a fact.

Poor people!

I agree, carry everywhere legally permitted but I dont think CCW would have helped in this scenario. Your talking an elevated position, what looks to be hundreds of yards away in the dark with no sense of direction as to were the shots are originating. Best thing to do would be run and find cover

Why? There are firearms training facilities in the outskirts of Las Vegas. If you take courses at those facilities, and stay in Las Vegas, you'd have to bring your locked/cased firearms to your room (or store them at the facility, if possible).

If true. If he did concert to Islam recently it would explain so many unanswered questions.



Also,
I saw that there were witnesses that claim a woman, was going through the crowd shortly before the shooting telling everyone they were all going to die, and they are around you. She was either crazy and high, or she knew what was going to happen.

Of course a pistol is not going to help vs. a rifle at distance but where are properly armed security on the scene? Gun free zones do not help.
I avoid gun free zones as much as I possibly can. They are the modern versions of human hunting fields for terrorists and lunatics.

I hope the guy is an Islamic convert, it at least makes sense. If the guy is simply an evil nut then watch for legislation to take guns away on mental health grounds... anything ~ times of trauma, anti-depressants, victims of crimes... all those will be rationales for "safe keeping of weapons".

Sick but true observation but old white guys are really effective. The Somali that shot up the church last week shot himself in the leg; many Islamic terrorists are incompetent with weapons. But this old white guy just set a record for an American mass shooting and that took considerable cognitive ability to plan and execute.

As for how to avoid, unfortunately you simply have to avoid large unsecured gatherings like this. Your CCW is worthless. I don't know what was the best thing to do since you probably wouldn't be able to tell where the shots were coming from in this situation.... being at the edge near cover would be a good situational place to be I guess.

I doubt they had security armed with rifles. That being said some Bills games Iv been to have had Sheriffs with SBRs in full kit, even with all that its hard to return fire when you cant pinpoint the origin, and they'd be shooting into an occupied structure

You need some experts at these massive events where that type of threat is possible. A team of experienced snipers will end that guy in no time.

Congressional Democrats chose not to wait for all the facts to come in before immediately pushing for increased gun control measures following the Las Vegas shooting Sunday night that left 50 people dead and more than 400 injured.

It’s not yet clear how the shooter, 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, acquired his guns or if gun control measures could have prevented him from obtaining them, but leading Democrats are already demanding stricter gun control legislation. “Tragedies like Las Vegas have happened too many times,” Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren wrote on Twitter. “We need to have the conversation about how to stop gun violence. We need it NOW.”

Twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton attacked the National Rifle Association (NRA).

“Our grief isn’t enough. We can and must put politics aside, stand up to the NRA, and work together to try to stop this from happening again,” Clinton wrote.

“As after #Orlando, I will NOT be joining my colleagues in a moment of silence on the House Floor that just becomes an excuse for inaction,” Massachusetts Rep. Seth Moulton wrote.
