After elections I hope these threads are done

IN the 1930's there were people that didn't want to talk about politics in Germany. They pretended that everything was okay. Soon after, they were not allowed to talk about politics unless they were politically correct and only spoke glowingly about the Reich. Are things really that different now? Say something that is not politically correct and watch what happens to you. The new pistol renewal is being rolled out. It that gun talk or political? If the ammo data base is ever fired up and the FFLs have to charge you another 25 bucks so you can purchase ammo, Gun Talk or political. Just sayin.

Those type of threads should be killed on the spot specially for a new forum that desperately needs value content.
A bit off topic is fun, I like that. But too much of anything causes heartburn.

The lack of value content is the reason NYF went south and also because the lack of vision from the careless owners
and total abandonment so they finally said... fuck everyone and they sold it to the first bidder.
Just think about all the shift in NYF and it was not because of SAFE like some might think. SAFE had an impact, no doubt,
but ultimately was due to the lack of the owners vision and direction.

There are more forums than ever before but the ones that continue strong are the ones who are
loyal to a set of principles and constantly evolving with new stuff and ideas. You tube has been a huge
helps to grow and supplement those and the others that stayed the same, they suck now.

The cool ones have been reshaping themselves. The rest and other leftovers end up in the crappy places or they are
sold to the first bidders or end up blending in with the mainstream social media and all the repercussions
that this has.

At some point I was in 12 forums all with great stuff. Now I am down to 3. SH and 68 forums also sold to the Virtual
scope and other Commies.

I guess things can become what we want them to be. Do we want something really good? This forum software works
10,000 times better than the VBulleting BTW but that is not going to do it alone w/o some value content and a
healthy amount of troll control.

My 2 pesos, it wasn't politics that ruined it. In fact, politics caused more users to join than ever.

It was the BS banning for penis cartoons and for the occasional curse word. It was the closing of whole threads because a certain moderator loved the power.

Agreed about this forum's software. It's taken the best of social media and the standard forum format and combined them. I like it!

i have just found out that the ignore function is awesome on this site. you do not see anything from the people on the list....nothing. even if they are quoted it does not show.

try it. it has been great for the last few days with my newest ignore filter on.

My 2 pesos, it wasn't politics that ruined it. In fact, politics caused more users to join than ever.

It was the BS banning for penis cartoons and for the occasional curse word. It was the closing of whole threads because a certain moderator loved the power.

I agree it is good to have new folks but not everything is about just quantity, but also some quality. I mean content.
Over the years we also lost some pretty knowledgeable and avid contributors due to the constant off topic flow.
But in the end a forum w/o direction becomes whatever the Gods want to give us. And yes! the PG 13 no sense was pretty ridiculous.
I am saying not to criticize anyone but in good faith to see if we can achieve things not possible under the NYF regime.
I would have never go back to NYF. I was invited here by a good people to help with value content and rejoined with renewed interest.
