I'm beginning to wonder if the term "prop gun" has different meanings in Hollywood speak. I always assumed a "prop gun" was a fake rubber or plast thing just for background shots. Maybe it means any "gun" functional or not.

The gun —reportedly a vintage Colt pistol— was being used by crew members off set during a "target practice" with real bullets, multiple sources told TMZ.
So....NOT a "prop gun," but rather a real gun used as a prop.
Inexcusable.
