Altamont Grips

New grips for my every day carry, a Smith and Wesson 36-2. This Altamont company is fantastic. Made in the USA, makes grips for all sorts of different rifles and pistols, plus they even will custom make stuff. I love it when I am not only impressed with a company's product but also with the company itself.

The grips are rosewood and really make a difference as far as fitting my big bear paw hands... I know I went a little fancy but why not? Much better then a chunk of rubber. I like the fact that it has the S&W logo as well, most of the aftermarket grips don't do that. See before and after pics. Doesn't even make a difference as far as concealability as the gun still just about disappears in the IWB holster I use. I will have to go to the range tomorrow to test how it feels when shooting.

I just saw a youtube video of a 686 that featured these. They sure look pretty. The only thing I could see against them is if they added enough bulk to the grip to affect concealability? But I like em though.

I shot a friends Hi power with their grips they were very nice, well made, solid well fitting.
his were not so fancy!

Those are beautiful. However, with my semi arthritic hands, it's Pachmayr and Hogue grips all day, every day!

Here's my S&W 629 N frame .44 mag Performance Center with the original grips, and with the everyday Hogue monogrip #25000 for round butt style... I put the same style on my SP101 .357 as well.

Also, because I need the longer 3 finger grip with my Tony Robbins size mitts.

I have Altamont Cocobolo grips on my SR1911. Very nice. For my SP101, I have the non rubber Hogue grip though.

Altamont make excellent grips and the boot grips on your mod. 36 look great. They have the S&W logo on them because they are officially licensed to make grips for S&W revolvers.

Most shooters prefer the pachmyer or Hogue rubber grips for magnum revolvers due to the recoil. Personally myself, I haven’t found it to be a huge issue with me using target style wood grips. Maybe for prolonged shooting you would start to notice a big difference in comfort.

Beautiful grips indeed! I have Altamont grips on one of mine as well. Do they get in the way when you eject cases? Just wondering because I once had a similar set but different brand that would interfere with .38s or .357s. I actually almost bought the same style you have but settled on their Altai model because of the lower profile.

Nope. Not blockage at all. Doesn't interfer with speed loader either.

I have them on my 360. I don’t like rubber for pocket carry. These are great. Nothing will make an 11oz +p fun to shoot but it’s not a shoot all day gun.
