How does this sound... CMP provides training and competition that conforms to a standardized set of rules for precision shooting. Appleseed provides training for practical shooting skills. Both are good, and neither are better than the other, but they are different.

If we as the pro-gun community spent half the effort fighting our enemies as we do fighting each other, I'd be able to have machine guns and silencers by now!

Yes @Podmonkey shooting a Appleseed qualifies the needed shooting to get the certificate to buy from the CMP.

Appleseed is not a competitive shooting match thou many shooters and instructors go on to CMP matches. Not everyone wants to compete!

That's not affiliation. Being active or retired member of NYPD or any other law enforcement agency or past military service also qualifies one for CMP firearms purchase. Doesn't mean NYPD is affiliated with the CMP, all it means the applicant had firearms training.

I shoot both Appleseed and High Power now!
I love both and they both have helped my 50' unsupported 22 bullseye (MY REAL LOVE!) shooting!
