Good luck and whatever you do, DO NOT tell anyone you have info on the Clintons, you're welcome.
David Hogg was there too! He saw it all.@Catskillkid 's opponent attended a party that I also attended 30 years ago. After getting me to drink a beer, Mr. Opponent took me into a bedroom and tried to attack me. All the while, Joe Biden groped at me and sniffed my hair. After I managed to get away, they laughed and joked about it.
Go door to door! You’re gonna kill it!!Thank you all for the support. I mean it sincerely when I say I truly appreciate it. I'm also humbled by the willingness to contribute financially to my campaign, but as @gunpoliticsny stated, this is a very low level position and I will not be setting up a PAC for it. The Party is going to help me (and the rest of the candidates out) with some of the advertising and anything additional I'll foot the bill myself. I don't see spending more than a few hundred bucks if that. Again, it's a small Town and while I want the job I'm not going bankrupt myself to get it. I'm going to do the best I can with the least cost that I can and let the chips fall where they may.
Just found out this weekend that I will indeed by primaried by one of our local hack attorneys. Apparently he got enough petition signatures to appear on the primary ballot. He did it in a really dirty way too by implying to folks that HE (not myself) was the endorsed candidate. That really pisses me off. I spoke to the Party boss and he said there's not a whole lot we can do about it at this point other than just campaign as best we can and hope for the best in the primary. The good news is that the primaries around here usually don't get a lot of turnout (typically like 30 people show up if that) and the Party apparatus is behind me. My douche of an opponent might be able to get the signatures needed but it'll be tough to get folks out to non-general election polls. Just going to put myself out there as much as I can between now and June 25.
Meanwhile, the Democrats still haven't caucused so we don't know who (if anyone) will be running against me from that side. My biggest fear is that they will find a real lawyer to run which will be tough for me to parlay against. Then again, the Democratic Party in this Town (at least in the last few years) hasn't been particularly well organized and mostly has run token candidates. Stranger things have happened though even though the GOP has voter enrollment advantage here.
@prambo - I very much consider you my political/spiritual adviser and now more than ever do I need your wisdom. Look for a PM from me. Maybe we can set something up for early this summer.
Again, thank you all for the kinds words and the support. I'll keep you all posted on how things transgress. As @Dr. Evil stated it's time to go out and start kissing babies, just in a wholesome non-Joe Biden type way.
Mind out of the gutter @BDinPutnamUhm, what?
Just wanted to give everyone a quick update. Yesterday, as many of you know was the primary election. I had one challenger for the Republican Party line. I soundly beat him 68-12 (doesn't look huge but that's a pretty good turnout for a primary election in my Town of 3,500 people).
Thank you all for the support. Now it's off to the general election. The Town Democrats caucus tonight so by tomorrow I should know if I have an opponent or not.
Drill'em in the ass!
If you win, and I get a speeding ticket in your town and have to be in court, can I pull the NYGF out for a mulligan?
You know that Judge's chambers are private for a reason, right?
Contact the Russians. They should have some dirt on your opponent.
