Guys, the Senate is not going to vote to convict, they are going to send this impeachment right back out o its ass as soon as they get it. This impeachment has actually helped Trump and the GOP gin up a lot of support. This impeachment may well cost the democrats the House. Stymieing Trump's power to appoint justices is probably a good thing as well in case of Ginsburg croaking before the election. Once reelected Trump can resume making his appointments and if the GOP takes the House there won't even be a circus over it.
To be hinest the democrat party is so over the top disfunctional that they aren't even a threat right now, they have shed so much support during their crash dive to the far left. There was no crime in what Trump did, either on the phone call, or in refusing to help the House find dirt on him, or in appealing to the courts.
Would there have been the same outrage of Biden murdered someone in Ukraine and Trump asked them to investigate? Would that investigation be more or less acceptable?
Was it illegal for Trump to negotiate the release of Otto Warmbier from North Korea - where we got our citizen back and North Korea got a more favorable negotiation position - you know, quid pro quo, or 'this for that'?
If Trump committed a crime, he wouldn't have been impeached for "Orange Man Bad". And the Dems wouldn't have had to rely on using polling data to come up with something. There would have been criminal charges.

The dems are digging their own grave. Yes, they're appealing to their base -- and maybe they even also believe Trump did something wrong. None of that matters.
All that matters are the optics, and the optics on the dems for most Americans are "they're butthurt because Hilary lost." Whether that's true of not is irrelevant. That's how people see them outside their base.
If they played things smart, they would've proposed legislation, let it get shot down, and point to Trump during the 2020 election and say "Well, republicans shot down all of the legislation we were proposing, without proposing a plan of their own." Instead, they doubled down on the crazy, and that's why Trump's numbers are up. They fucked themselves, between impeachment and the shitshow in Virginia, and the polls are starting to show it nationally.

I have 0 problems with the president asking a foreign leader to look into corruption that relates to a relative of someone he might face in an election a year and a half away.
I have 0 problems with a president filing suit with the judicial branch to determine if the executive branch needs to comply with a specific subpoena issued by the legislative branch. That is exactly how the separation of powers is supposed to work.
If he told Ukraine they needed to find corruption, that would be different, but that's not what he asked, and I don't get the sense that any of the parties on the call felt that way either.
If the judiciary ruled the subpoenas were proper and he still refused to comply then he would be guilty of obstruction of *justice* which is a crime. Justice, not congress.
So, which of those do you have a problem with ?

How is that similar? Trump did not gain anything personally from otto's release. It was that trump was seeking personal benefit that makes this smell bad.
Yes, well it looks like what he did doesn't really elevate to the status of crime. I think the fact that regardless of intent Ukraine did not really do this, and wasn't punished for it meant that the dems have nothing but scraps.
Thing is, it's impossible to say if it was legit, or there was a secondary thought about it being convenient to have biden out of the way. These corruption charges against hunter have some apparent merit. Somebody else should have pushed the matter besides trump.

Running for president doesn't preclude investigation of crimes committed. Similarly, benefiting politically from investigating a crime is not illegal. If it was, every DA who held a press conference after an arrest would be in jail.
If Biden was clean, Trump would have a problem. But Biden is dirty and there is ample evidence of his criminal behavior - including bragging about it on a stage, in front of an audience, and on video tape.
