Do you recall the price ?Was actually looking at one yesterday at my local shop. The trigger was notably better than any j frame I've ever shot.
The one I looked at was the 642UC, price was at $730 I believe.Do you recall the price ?
Thank youThe one I looked at was the 642UC, price was at $730 I believe.
Don't know if they have one or notI have heard they have had some QC issues. Internet scuttle butt so take such with a grain of salt but such things are not at all unheard of from new production S&W revolvers. All that being said I ask where the hell is the .327 Mag version?!
exactly! All that being said I ask where the hell is the .327 Mag version?!
There is no .327 Mag version of this model, just .32 H&R and .38 Special. They absolutely should do a .327 Magnum however. Thjs oft overlooked cartridge is probably the best defensive cartridge for a small revolver. You get 6 round vs 5 and ballistic performance similar, if not slightly greater than, the hottest 9m +P+ loads. A 110gr bullet @ 1,300fps is nothing to sneeze at. Despite this recoil should be tolerable in even a particularly lightweight revolver. In fact I'd really like to see a 340 PD in .327 Federal Magnum.
I've become a S&W fan for sure, I like their products and I will purchase more of them. However when you buy a new manufacture S&W revolver be prepared to send it straight back to S&W, right out of the box even, for repair.I'm interested in one of these, I'm a big S&W fan though only have Ruger revolvers. Would have to stock a new caliber, and it wouldn't be a primary carry - maybe a backup if I was that worried. Low recoil of the .32 H&R seems interesting, and apparently Federal is working on a new round for this year.
I haven't checked local shops, but I'm guessing I'd have to special order anything other than the cheaper FMJ round.
Damn $666 at LockedLoaded, tempting at that price.. I'm expecting a "bonus" of sorts at work next month (annual salary increase plus longevity), so we'll see.. I need to get another safe before I get anything else, ha.. though another pistol/revolver won't take up much space..
I've heard more than a few stories similar to this lately. Not sure why, but S&W really needs to address this issue. However when you buy a new manufacture S&W revolver be prepared to send it straight back to S&W, right out of the box even, for repair.
