I have not had any milk that tasted like cows milk. Most milk tastes like shit including organic grass fed one and way more expensive than overseas.
Only in a couple of occasions I got decent milk from the Amish dairy store.
Whenever I see real Amish butter I buy 4 or 5 pounds. That is good butter. I cook with gee.
The butter they sell at the store is shit.
That vegetable margarine people buy (including organic) is so bad that might be the same grease GM uses in their transmissions.
It is legalized, fda approved poisoning.
Why anyone would eat that like philadelphia cheese and burger "american" cheese is beyond my understanding. That yellow cheese has no dairy in it!.
Get some cheddar or provolone instead.

In many states it's actually illegal to sell real unprocessed milk.

I worked for a milk hauler once. Did farm pick-ups all over south jersey. One farm kept their milk at 34°. Best raw milk ever. I'd have two glasses while loading it. And the farmer's wife always had fresh baked cookies or cake in the milk room for me

I don't think I have ever had raw milk. We used to get our milk delivered in Denver from Royal Crest Dairy. Delivered to a wooden box on our doorstep in glass quarts, milked less than 24 hours prior. Best milk I can remember drinking.

Their website only claims 'farm fresh' now, and everything is bottled in plastic. Looks more like Schwann's than a traditional milkman.

It's the sale of it that's illegal. There was probably nothing illegal about her giving it to you.

In a lot of states they have developed a work around for people who want it. They don't sell you milk. They sell (or rent) you a cow, and charge you for maintaining it. Maintaining a cow involves milking it.

So they deliver your raw milk from your cow to you. That bypasses the "no sale of raw milk" issue, because they never owned the milk. It was created as your milk.

Yeah, I know that. I was just making comment about how good raw milk was.

I've heard that some people who claim to be lactose intolerant can actually do fine with raw or non-homogenized milk. It has to do with the way that the homogenization process breaks down the milk fat into particles too small for proper digestion.

The only reasons for low fat/no fat milk is for the processors to make $$ and to use the milk fat for other products.

The sale of raw milk is not illegal in NY, but it is regulated. Regular testing of product by Health department. The farm in Pine Bush got tired of the interference(or wouldn't pay the payola) The farm in Otisville has a thriving business, people drive in from NJ and CT.

I have posted on here that a massive fertilizer shortage could be taking place during the next crop season... Much man made in my opinion . It WILL cause major unrest in parts of the world . Prepare for shortages .. Even in this country.If one has room for a freezer buy one and stock up. Buy a 1/4 or 1/2 side of beef.. Perhaps half a hog .. Depending on one's family size. I am a bit nervous about much of this...

I didn't take that as a warning.

I'm going to put a bucket of ash slurry by the front door now. Hopefully I don't throw it outside at the same time an unwelcome guest shows up. In my head, I picture it like a scene from Gilligan's Island.

You really want to filter the slurry and then let the liquid evaporate to concentrate it.

That was the original source of potash and soda ash (depending on what you burned to get the ashes. The word potash derived from pot ash)

As for using it as fertilizer, make sure you know what the soil needs before dumping random "good stuff" on it. If your soil is too acid, these are great. If it's already too alkaline, you're just making it worse.
