Yeah I don't like the idea of gov getting involved in who owns property but in this case Chinese state ownership should not be allowed. Never should have happened in the first place.

In this case it’s farmland and seed research. I’m not sure why we would give our enemy access to farmland and research what grows best in our country for them to take over if they try. Yes China is our enemy and most on here believe that but many don’t. Yes this is a part of warfare or pre-warfare.
By the way I agree with you on steel as well. The issue is we have unions and environmental regulations that make US steel manufacturers not profitable vs China. We’re to blame for that. We need to regulate who and what foreign businesses have access to the USA. We’re idiots and I recently learned the USA sent people over to China to teach them how to grow apples and now our markets are being impacted by that.

Im normally against these types of actions but I'm absolutely 100% supportive of preventing foreign state owned or affiliated companies from buying American land. Especially China.

It was a U.S. company that owned the land since 1988, and was acquired by a Chinese owned company in 2016.
What if the Chinese owned company was was just a minority shareholder? What if they divest those land holdings and purchase shares of other U.S. companies that own land?
I'm sure none of the governors buddies want to develop a strip mall and/or luxury homes on that site.

Could be it isn’t beyond a politician however any percentage of foreign ownership of US land should not be allowed. And when it comes to Chinese corporations there is no such thing as a private ownership

How do you control who can own land without simply giving state and federal government full control (ownership)?
Maybe businesses shouldn't be able to own land? Just private U.S. citizens?
And what about estates and trusts? Those are technically businesses, and a foreign citizen or entity could be the beneficiary.

I get it, I don't like government being involved in private matters. But what do you do when Chinese government entities keep buying land, what started at a couple hundred acres, over years becomes several hundred thousand. Chinese citizens are likely backed by the Chinese government funding. At what point do you realize they are trying to essentially take over the US by land ownership? The majority of people here can't get buy without products from China as it is. If they stopped exports to the US, we're at a point where we can't fulfill our own needs domestically.
Realistically, our landowners should, by default, refuse to sell to foreign interests and cut Uncle Sam out of the picture all together.

Corporations, estates and trusts are all set up based on gov laws. Eliminating the ability for non citizens (or perm residents) to own land by utilizing them wouldn’t be difficult. And in certain cases like China it should be an all out ban.

Foreign investment is important so I do not support banning Foreign nationals from owning property. I do support cutting communists off completely from any economic activity.
I also support restricting land purchases around strategic areas and I also support expediting or otherwise adavantaging domestic purchasers of land over foreign purchasers. Only to a limited degree though, again foreign investments are important.
