I get it, I was just trying to distract from the original premise of this thread. My view is unless the zombie hoard was imminent, I would never give away a perfectly functional firearm to someone who might cap me just to steal the rest of them. And my food. And my water. And my wife. Just don't tell her, I don't want her to get an inflated view of herself. Don't tell the guns either.

Has anyone ever thought about garbage while bugging in? I think we take that for granted. You put the garbage out and it disappears the next day. What would you guys do about garbage? I have a 55 gallon drum I can burn stuff in. Would you guys do uncontrolled burns? Dump somewhere else? Bury? Living in the country is much different than living 20 feet away from others with this type of thing.

I'm going to ship mine to NYC, to return some of the shit they've sent up to us (I live not far from the High Acres landfill that has recently seen a HUGE increase in garbage traffic from NYC).

My one and only neighbor is an older couple on the downswing, health wise. I dont think they would be much help, however we do have close friends that live a 1/4 mile from us. I would absolutely arm them if needed. They have a mini homestead with a flourishing garden, chickens, and their property backs to the creek. I have all the guns. I look at it as a mutual aid scenario

Everyone has different neighbors. Some they like, some they hate, some they don't even know exist.

I get along with my neighbors. But my answer is still NO. because the one neighbor is very good friends of ours, but he's 90 y/o and anti-gun. So he not going to shoot a gun anyway. The other neighbor is a hunter- owns guns.

SHTF or not, I'm not going to give a gun to someone that never handled a gun before and expect them to watch my back. imo, that's an accident waiting to happen.

My neighbor to my north is a nypd cop, his parents live with him and we always exchange food, gardening tools and other things we may need. they would be the first people in my neighborhood we will check with in a SHTF situation. the one across the street is a retired nypd cop. I have good relationship with both. theres also another retired nypd cop just a few houses down, it seems like my neighborhood is filled with cops lol

the one on my south is a typical jersey shore guido douche, no way im arming that guy but he may still be very useful for other things that needs to be done in order to survive.

So a SHTF event happens. A real one (Not a hurricane) where trucks cannot resupply supermarkets and aren't going to for the foreseeable future.

You have lots of guns. Do you arm your neighbor who isn't a gun guy?

(After all, someone has to be the 'easy mark' for the roving bands as they sweep through areas devoid of law enforcement. Just like animals, they'll take targets that offer little resistance. I won't be one of those....but my neighbors will be.)

(Oh...by the way...most of my neighbors are anti-gun pro-Progressive Liberals. If one of you were my neighbor, and you needed a firearm...then I'd certainly give you a spare. We'd work more efficiently as a team with a common goal.)

Well, if the SHTF, of course you couldn’t give away a firearm unless a FFL did a background check. So you would have to singlehandedly fight your way to the gun store while your neighbor reloaded your mags. At least on the way back your neighbor could shoot too.

With the phones lines down, the BGC could not be completed, so you'd have to wait three days before completing the transfer.

For me absolutely not. Live in a complex and don’t know my neighbors, only ones I’ve seen is some young chick that lives above me and a younger couple in the building next to me.

If SHTF I’m out of here anyway. Need to get to my fiancée and make sure she is safe. Doesn’t matter how risky it is

Nope. Arming my family and moving out. In laws live in the country, in a reasonably defensible position, with a decently set up mini farm and plenty of natural resources around. They're well armed also.

I'm not sticking around in town. Too many undesirables roaming around, and no defense for the family if I'm out foraging.

I am in Suffolk Long Island [ the county of liberal shit and Taxes. ] Give or lend a Fire Arm ? Not a fucking chance in hell. Save for one neighbor I am surrounded by liberal walking targets. And like the other guy said, The hoards will go to easy targets first. Now the one decent neighbor , is not that street smart. mid 40s, Divorced dad. Has A pistol LIC. but no Hand guns. Also 1 12G shotgun, and A sweet Mini 14. . But one 5 round mag and maybe 10 rounds. Same for the shot gun. Has no food stocked. He could last maybe A day or 3
I have a stock of real canned food [ and Cases of USMC MREs]. If I need water, the anti gun liberal neighbor behind me has a New huge pool.

I think in a true TEOTWAWKI scenario where all bets are off you really can't trust anyone unless they're especially close friend or family. I hate to say it but most of my peers have gone Lib over the years and would probably want to help the looters/roving bands (social justice and all). I can't/won't get behind that. My plan would be to Bug Out to my parents place which is 148 acres or mostly forest but some fields too. Probably have to go back to subsistence farming like my ancestors did but at least I'd have something. It's a small community and I know a fair amount of people here who are mostly (not exclusively) pro-liberty if not conservative and likely have just as many arms as I do. It's actually not that bad of a place for TEOTWAWKI except it's still to close to NYC for more liking. I know the Golden Hoard is unlikely to travel too far from its home base in the urban areas but if by chance they do it'll be tough defending against them without mutual assistance.

When I move to Wisconsin I will be so set. Rural area, surrounded by family, all of whom are already armed. My Aunt and Uncle live near a farm and are very close friends with the owners, everyone has a garden. I will have food, bodies and guns. I will be bringing plenty of ammo.
