I have been thinking of becoming a certified NRA instructor and have some questions for those of you who have gone through the process.
My goal is not money but to just increase the number of gun owners in New York State so we don't keep getting outvoted every election. I have introduced some of my friends to guns but want to become certified so I can expand my outreach. I don't plan on charging any money other than having the students pay for ammo, range fees, course materials, etc.; my time itself and the guns I provide will be free.
What are the things I am not thinking of? Insurance? Liability? I have never worried about those while teaching friends and family, but if I'm going to teach strangers, should I worry about those? Do I need to incorporate as a LLC or non-profit corporation? Should I join an existing training company or non-profit and offer my services for free?
Process wise, I understand that I have to take the Basic Instructor Training course followed by the related courses that I want to be an instructor in. I keep looking but it's hard to find BIT classes and they're never offered online. Is the BIT class ever waived? I have a good amount of experience with guns and have documentation to prove it.
Thanks for your feedback.

Please stay on topic. There are other threads to talk about the politics and the direction of this state. Thanks.
