I was mad at this story when I first heard it. My "emotions" were my first reaction. That it was needless and cruel.

But I didn't really know much about it.

So I read up on what actually happened.

And after reading I've decided I'm fine with it. The logic is ok.

After reading I learned that,
The dominant bull giraffe is removed, younger bulls can breed, more little giraffes pop out, villiagers get 1000lbs of meat and corrupt politicians line their pockets.

Sorry, but I disagree about the 'chucks'. I don't have to shoot them, though. Squirrel-munch has now killed two of them in under two weeks. Dug up the first one, then he literally climbed a tree to get the second one. I think he needs a new name.

Some things just need to be killed, whether you plan to eat them or not.

Woodchucks digging up your pastures ?
Coyote's killing your livestock ?

I've never personally understood the appeal of trophy hunting, but I'm certainly not going to say "to make a meal out of it" is the only valid reason to kill something either.

I don't believe very many trophy hunters *waste* the meat they harvest either. Even if they don't personally eat all of it, they will give away or donate the rest.
