Many schools just blow money on ridiculous things because they are not for profit. My wife is a college professor/administrator and I can tell you she worked for a private for profit university and that was all they talked about was how can we keep a degree under $10,000 or $30,000. All books and materials are or were provided for you, no fees, no activity charges nothing.
I think this sentiment is turning. The idiots that graduate from college think they will make $100-$150,000/year with a bachelors degree. My sons graduating class many are not going to college. Many took welding and building trades. My BOCES program for welding has a waiting list and we’re hoping my younger shin get accepted next year. I have always like and respected the tradesmen. I almost wish I’d have gone the trade route. Electro and will have a waiting list a mile long in the coming decade with the conversion to EV and all electric world. Electricians will be able to write their own ticket. I may see if my son wants to get the welding at boces then go to be an electrician so he can do both.Yet unfortunately, schmoes like @Jmac00 and I, and others I imagine, who took the trades route to AVOID college debt yet earn decent salaries, by default, are now encumbered by college debt.
No offense to anyone intended, but if you borrowed it, you pay for it. If the amount intended to be returned to you exceeds what you paid in taxes federally in general, than that's the maximum you should get in return, not a penny more. Its not my job as a citizen to subsidize others choices or regrets. Your office job in air conditioning sweating paperwork isn't the equivalent to the physical abuse taken by those who avoided college debt in the trades. At minimum, the lack of respect in general by educators who believe that if you can't make it in college "you can always get a job in the trades " is enough of a slap in the face to have us never want to be encumbered by your debt. Want the easy route in life? YOU PAY FOR IT.
Not to hijack the thread, but I advise many younger individuals of a simple fact.I think this sentiment is turning. LOL, back in the early '80s, before I went into HVAC I was a certified welder. I went to night school/continuing ed. I was certified for 11 stick, TIG and MIG ( although, I admit I'm not a fan of MIG, cause I kinda suck at it) but I haven't touched a welder in 40 years.I think this sentiment is turning. @SonOfSun ,And I want to add, we are only 2 years into this insanity with Emperor Xiden, his damage isnt even done yet. Just wait, the socialists have only just started redistributing the weath of the middle class.I understand what you're saying about your taxes, but cost of living has gone up so drastically that everybody is having less money in their accounts at the end of the month under Biden.
Not hijacking the thread at all because student loan debt touches on this. Not to hijack the thread, but I advise many younger individuals of a simple fact.
Many in the trades are, according to labor statistics specifically in my field, age 55+.l, with noone behind filling the gap, know personally that nearly any trade, with oncoming retirements, with have a huge shortage of employees. Nearly any trade will be a "write your own check" opportunity for those willing to apply themselves now.
Hell, I can go nearly anywhere now and demand ridiculous wages and get a job ( just love where I'm at too much).
press sec can't answer who is paying for this ..
Or the tens of thousands on tools?do we all get a forgiveness on our 30K work truck loans ..
She has to be the worst there has ever been. At least psaki was good at lying and deflecting.press sec can't answer who is paying for this ..
if you watch her eyes blinking rate .. its that a sign of lying lol ..
I'm pretty sure it is more like $10,000 taxpayer cost, for every $2,000 that is "forgiven".Study released saying it will cost each and every tax payer $2,000 at $10,000 of forgiveness. Not right!!
Biden's student debt forgiveness plan may cost taxpayers an average of $2,000, some policy experts say
Student loan forgiveness will cost taxpayers and does nothing to solve the tough unaffordability issues that plague higher education, some policy experts say.www.cnbc.com
Again, no offense, but 1 dollar from someone who didn't go to college to pay for someone else's choice of debt is 1 dollar too much.Study released saying it will cost each and every tax payer $2,000 at $10,000 of forgiveness. Not right!!

I'm guessing you are doing fairly well salary wise. My wife and I are comfortable salary wise and did better tax wise under Trump. Other people who are better off that I know did as well. My retirement had huge gains under Trump. How did your retirement do? How's it doing now? Overall we're you really behind under Trump? I'm guessing with everything figured in you were worth much more then than now.Tax cuts and jobs act raised my federal taxes many thousands of dollars, and that many thousand increase was with an additional child tax credit as my youngest was born in 2018. All of the items under Biden added up to less than the Trump tax increases. Like I said I don't like Biden or Trump, however Trump was much worse for me than Biden, but I guess Biden still has time to change that, ha. I don't really care if you believe me, facts are facts whether you believe them or not - the numbers for federal tax paid printed on my federal tax return don't care about opinions. Math is math.
I’m guessing it’s so spread out that the $10,000 gets washed out to $2,000.I'm pretty sure it is more like $10,000 taxpayer cost, for every $2,000 that is "forgiven".
How the hell can spending $10,000 only cost $2,000? People believe this shit!!!

None taken. I agree and that’s why I posted it. Hard facts are helpful imo. If someone asked me for $2,000 I’d say no as well.Again, no offense, but 1 dollar from someone who didn't go to college to pay for someone else's choice of debt is 1 dollar too much.
