Perez says while the gas tax suspension will help, she needs more relief now.

I pass a Exon station yesterday that was $4.74, went in to Lowes and Walmart maybe an hour to an hour 20 minutes, stopped to top off my 1/2 tank price jumped to $4.99.

As I retired a year ago I can at least reduce and plan my driving. I was planning on shooting in the Benchrest league at Pine Tree again this year but at 80 miles round trip I skipped it, my main Club is 5 miles from home so that where I'll stay. Next Feb. my CRV is payed off and my pension kicks in latter that year. I feel for those who don't have that flexibility.
Eh, that's driving. Not the cost of food and the home energy bill you will have to pay. Everything is effected.

High gas prices are largely the result of high oil, a global commodity. They are affecting every modern nation.
I have sympathy for low income people. These suck. I have no sympathy for people who drive Tahoes and Silverados for status (ie most of them) and whine. I got my first hybrid in 2010. Only in America do people drive 5000 lb suvs and then act surprised when they cost a hundred bucks to fill up every week. The first hybrid hit the us market over two decades ago. It’s a proven technology.
For those who cannot (and never could) afford a better vehicle or need a gas guzzling work vehicle I take no joy in how gas has impacted them.

$120 oil is not biden's fault. Oil also went up 30% in Trump's first year. Was that his fault? No. Oil started ramping up hard in October of 2020, with little pause, before biden took office.
Prices on lumber had already spiked under trump, and hit an all-time high < 4 months into biden's term. What did biden do to cause that? Chip shortage preceded biden. Home prices skyrocketing preceded biden. Ammo shortage preceded biden, car shortage preceded biden. Trump came in and his first year deficit (all subsequent years higher, btw) was higher than either of the preceding three. I didn't see much complaint from republicans about that. Tireless denigrators of $50 Obama phones were short on objection when it came to the stimmy checks they got in 2020/2021 as well, which they dumped into consumer goods and now act surprised a price spike has combined with a supply shortage.

We are $4.96/gallon in Rochester, NY average now on gas. This will bring about a recession.

But it did not lead to $5 gas.
The Democrats are trying to blame "greedy oil companies". So, does that mean that Trump knew how to keep their greed in check ? Or did they only become greedy once Biden took office ?
Now I will admit, Biden is getting blamed for stuff that isn't his fault. I think most of the causes of inflation happened under Trump. But I'm not going to blame him for not stopping the Democrat governors from burning the economy to the ground to get rid of him.
The stimulus checks and unemployment bonuses may not have been the best idea, but once the "2 weeks" stretched into months they were inevitable, and probably necessary.
