Big Game Season 2018

I went out on Thursday morning. I set up about an hour before sunrise and almost immediately heard coyote yapping away. I kinda figured deer would be a bust.

I also figured I’m pretty outta shape with the bow. I haven’t practiced near enough. I might go out later in the season, if I can get some practice.

Sat all day today in two spots in Wurtsboro. Didn’t see jack. Beat part of the day - and I mean awesome part - was the Wurtsburger at Danny’s.

I love the area. Used to own a small piece of land on Ferguson Road. I hunt the state land there often. The boundaries changed this year, one of the bordering homeowners requested a survey. I lost my spot I’ve hunted for 13 years. I stayed behind the houses where the deer traveled between yards. Sucks.

I sold it to a Chinese couple but it has changed hands since then. It’s the empty plot with a new rock driveway, about 300 yards down the road on the right when heading towards the state land parking at the intersection. There’s a for sale sign on it again.

this will be my first season with bow. I dont know if I will go out though as I dont think im ready yet. Need more time on the bow and practice..may wait till next year. may use the weekend to turkey scout........in Naples I think

Me as well. Been practicing every day for weeks. I feel comfortable up to 40yds.

This is my first year since Ive been hunting that I won’t be going out. We hunted 70 in dutchess county that was recently sold. I’m to chicken to hunt big game on state land. Lol

I hear ya. if I didnt hunt my BIL land 240 acres I wouldnt either as the state land near me in Honeoye looks like walmart around the first of the month!!!!!

damn so your hiding he turkey...or rather they are hiding at your place. I was scoutting some a couple of years ago and just as I was about to move in for spring turkey the DEC caught some for data and they took off..have not been there in 3 years...they moved on since messed with.

why cant they be walking around in my backyard?! damn!!!

man being south or rochester all the "city slickers": come down..Id say easily 40 in a 600-800 acre are here just north of rt 20a. ALOT OF guys...man successful as 1/2 are gone by noon with their harvest.......

anyrate I guess I would hunt it if I have to...after opening weekend the number of hunters goes way way down!!

Oh yea the new driveway cut in by the top parking area. We hunt from the parking spot down the hill a lot where the state knocked down the old cabin that was there.

No, it doesn't work like that in Turkey world. Toms don't give a rats ass about hens until breeding season. You will see them together but the boss hen is in charge of the flock.

I’m going to try to take a day off next week. Otherwise, I’ll be back next sunday. Was going to go this sunday, but I was offered easy overtime. I booked a hotel for Oct 27-31 in Painted Post. I’m finally going back to Erwin WMA. I plan to hunt that week hard.
