I get that this cancels everything I’ve said over the last two weeks and brings me right back into the, “he defends them EVERY time camp,” but I won’t apologize for it. This guy was barely touched. He was clearly too fragile to be out there acting tough. That’s his problem.
And just to clarify, I was responding to someone who asked “why not just flex cuff him.” Because that’s an arrest, and they clearly weren’t looking to arrest people.

Yeah I get that he was barely touched but he was a geezer. No cop I would think would do that to an old lady hobbling along either unless it was a life or death issue.
But that’s the key here, he was barely touched. It was very clearly a little tap to get him out of the cop’s personal space, which he had already broken by touching him.
We cannot be responsible for knowing that the person who just rushed up to us and TOUCHED us is a fragile geezer. I’ve fought plenty of people OLDER than him who put up good offenses.

To me, it looked like the cops were focusing on more pressing (dangerous) issues ahead, which again, the camera was conveniently positioned to avoid. This is likely why the cop who paused to assist the old guy was told to proceed.
Again, if you're willing to get between cops in riot gear and rioters, its probably going to get uncomfortable.
These people forget that part of civil disobedience is taking responsibility for your actions and the legal repercussions for breaking the law.

I know we are Monday quarterbacking here. Should of could of. I cannot really say that I fault the guy. He made a mistake in judging the fragility of this old man. He wanted to stop to render assistance but his partner behind him made him proceed and ignore him. That was the biggest fuck up in my opinion.
All I can say is that this is something to learn from. Try to avoid it. They walked over him with indifference afterwards. That is what the people see. It doesn’t look good and puts further danger to your own lives and possibly your pocket.
Had they all stopped and provided immediate assistance, normal people (not agitators) would have seen this a lot differently.

I have to surmise that there was something ahead and the supervisor was directing him to continue. That second guy does stop and go over the radio, likely calling for help. As usual, we’re only shown a small clip. They may have brought up a medic second later (we’ve had them staged nearby throughout this, I’m sure they are doing similar).

If he would have exercised common decency, and dare I say manors.
I can't imagine what he thought he was going to accomplish from the middle of the crowd that he wouldn't have been able to do from the sides - other than perhaps feed his ego or provide propaganda fodder (which he did well). He made a poor decision, and unfortunately paid a disproportionally high price.

I could easily believe that this guy took that fall intentionally and that the push from the officer wasn't even the cause.
But, that just means that he baited the officer into that situation and the officer swallowed it hook, line, sinker, and copy of angling times.

My understanding that they had orders to clear the steps , he was argumentative and tapped the officer with his phone 3 times. I don't think that shove was overly rough , but it was unfortunate he cracked his head.
I can see why they resigned . If you give them orders to do something , and somebody is hurt while they are doing it , then you suspend them for trying to carry out the orders you gave them. Fuck you with a stick ,you do it now.
