Certain situations are clear cut. Certain ones are not. It is very easy to sit here in my living room and critique the situation on the video. I'm sure the emotional tone makes a big difference though. Tension, your sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight) kicks in and you have your head on a swivel. Situations can get out of control in an instant and lives can be lost in the blink of an eye. Honestly, the shove really didn't seem overly aggressive. Was it necessary? I don't know as I wasn't there and had zero perspective. Did the old guy talk shit to them at the same time? I also noticed how the news story emphasized he was 75. To me that's not here nor there. Just like many would say a man never should hit a woman. Overall I tend to agree but I would have no problem doing that very thing though if one of these ANTIFA babes was getting in my face and laying a hand on me making it physical if that was necessary. IMHO, don't put yourself in the position to make a situation like this a possibility. Don't stick out your chest and ruffle your feathers to a line of police officers in gear that are walking in a line during an obvious hostile situation and climate.

I've seen the video from multiple angles. The more I watch it the more I think he wanted to get pushed.
I saw his head fall with a lot of velocity and hit the concrete with a lot of force. I think the dude was definitely injured. He at least has a concussion possibly more injuries.
However, that is an interesting observation. If he was deliberately trying to provoke the police I suppose it's entirely possible he would go the extra mile to really sell the brutality. Who knows. If he was knocked out like it appears I doubt he would be cognizant enough to deploy fake blood.

Die? I think not. This picture was taken four, yes four, minutes after the push/fall. He is fine.
He wasn’t “hobbling along”. He was there after curfew, and was attempting to obstruct the cops from sweeping the plaza as they were in the middle of doing. He came directly at them while they were in the midst of it.

Mentally there is a bit of a double standard here.
If some jack ass gets in my face at wal mart for some perceived slight, I'm supposed to wait until he's literally trying to kill me to even touch him. Otherwise, at least in this state, I'm a violent offender. I better hope the force I apply is deemed "proportionate" or else I'm in the shit. See, my beef is the "better than" set up we have.
I don't fully know this situation here. Maybe those boys were already hopped up on adrenaline. Its happened to me. It's probably happened to a lot of us. I'm not passing judgment on this situation.
Still, I get tired of the bootlicker mentality of "you get what you deserve."

Went through this thread and want to add I am a bit ticked the video at the beginning of this thread convieniently edits out the few seconds showing the "old victim" (in my perspective 75 is the new 50 and this is not a frail unhealthy specimen) getting up in the officers' face. I had previously seen video of the victim a few minutes and a few seconds before the encounter and the asshole was out of line to run up and stop short of an approaching line. The video showing a few minutes was "no longer available" but this shows a few seconds.
I am also ticked with the media's playing of the frail elder card for everyone over 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75 because it sweetens their narritive / headline / clickbait. In that 25 year spread many who have moderately maintained themselves or were genetically blessed could be a formidable unarmed foe. On the other hand I have no doubt if there was a video of FUAC or Fredo starting a brush up with me, there would no mention or sympathy of my senior citizen age and it would be cast as an unfair encounter when in retaliation I rip off their heads and shit down their throats. Just saying ...

Bullshit hypothetical and Asinine question, this did not happen happen just anywhere at anytime. Where it happened, when it happened and how it happened are always factors. Period.
The "victim" was not without fault in this encounter. It is a fact. Get over it.
And it is also true my wife ..daughter ...son ... girlfriend ... boyfriend... mother ... father would not rush up in to the face of a police line responding to a riot scene.
Similarly if a 75 year old asshole rushed up in to the face of my wife ..daughter ...son ... girlfriend ... boyfriend... mother ... father, I would expect them to protect their space.

But if they did whether knowingly or not, you’d expect them to be treated correctly. Even if they were dead wrong.
And similarly if a 75 year old entered your space, you’d treat him differently than a 20 year old.
None of my family would have touched a police officer while doing his job. Maybe yours would, but not mine!

I would hope they would be smart enough not to interfere with a line of cops in riot gear preparing to clear out a mob of angry rioters.
If not, they get what's coming to them.
