My plan, if it ever comes to SH'sTF situation, is to make anyone that comes around and wants to make trouble, bug the ef out themselves, of the planet if necessary! I have a good pair of boots and some heavy cotton duck pants so that hot brass won't burn my sticks as it piles up. I already made my choice, they'll have to make theirs.

and a bottle of Capt'n Morgan, LOL a BOB isn't meant for a long term deal, it's meant to get you to a location and back after a few days. all mine has is a couple days worth of food and ammo. a box of 12ga slugs and 00 buckshot and 200 rounds of 40cal with 4 mag's
I keep our BOBs in my truck, in case I have to get home on foot. If the SHTF while I'm home, I plan on holding down the fort as long as I can, then grab our BOBs and head out to meet the "Group" at our designated place. With the neighbors I have down here, it will take a formidable force to push us out, just sayin'!!

Food wise, I have MRE's so that can stay put. Water wise, I guess I should be rotating the bottles of water.
As far as ammo goes, in the temporary everyday bug out bag to get me home that's in the trunk there is no ammo. Ammo consists of no more than 2 extra magazines for my pistol that are already on my body.
At the at home bug out bag since my carbine accepts the same magazines that my pistol accepts, there are 5 additional magazines for a total of 8 which include my ccw gear. I should buy 2 more to keep in the home bag though since they are ten rounders to make the total count one hundred.
A hundred rounds should be plenty if you plan on avoiding danger like you should.

Wife carries meds,com gear spotting scope radios,batteries misc gear all in all 2 bags each total of 4 bags for about 7 days long enough to set up a base ,security and time to forage.
We can each drop 1 bag and go right into defense or assault mode if need be.
We can't move on foot real fast for several reasons but I can promise if we get set up we can hold out for a few months .
Winter is my big concern lack of food/game ,long term shelter I am thinking if it looks real bad after about 3 days start moving south unless the shtf in winter then we will all meet in

Couple things that might be worth adding, zip ties. They don't weigh hardly anything and can be useful for many things.
Chapstick, hand sanitizer, Crazy Glue, and small type of insect repellent.

Your major focus should be getting in better shape if you're beat up after 15 mins of backpacking. You plan on wandering through the woods for up to a week? Many other people that have your same plan of "running to the woods to get away" will be just as ready if not more than you. People will be setting up camps with groups, all armed ready to chase you down and steal your shit that's tiring you out. I guess what you carry largely depends on your actual plan of action. Waiting something out in the woods is not a plan though. If you're worried about FEMA rounding up the citizenry, have a bug out shelter location that already has food supply. Leaving your home will likely result in everything being cleared out by everyone that didn't run to the woods or others that will probably redistribute the food and supplies at some point likely sooner than later. Worry about a get home bag I'd say. You can carry a lot of that stuff other than shovels pots and pans and silly shit like that without feeling much of any weight to keep you on your feet for several days.

I have since changed my mind on the subject. I'm bugging in. Where am I going to go to? If I had land and a cabin like @GOPerfect that's away from people and had supplies there , then I would bug out there.
I have no realistic bug out location that wouldn't have a ton of negatives or uncertainty. For all intents I am bugging in at my house unless I am forced out (ex, an approaching wildfire consuming my neighborhood or a confirmed opposition force that is completely beyond the scope of what neighbors and myself can handle is approaching). My criteria for leaving is simple, if I stay I "will" die, if I leave I "may" die.
I do have a get home bag in both vehicles though.

And if that wildfire is coming, you can bug out to a hotel after you pack up important items from your home.
I keep a B O B ready for natural disasters that forces you from your home/ area ( bad rain/snow storms, hurricane, flooding, tree falls on your house (crushes the roof), etc..) Look at hurricane Andrew, Sandy, etc. Instead of worrying about what to pack. I grab the bag & go. Regardless if there was advance warning that a storm was coming. My bag is already packed and I can focus on doing other things before leaving.
I'm more concern about mother nature than a shtf invasion.

All of your questions depends on the situation.
I have a small bag that I take to work everyday. Smaller backpack, not too many things in it. If for some reason, truck transportation is not able to be used, I can easily walk the nine Mike's to get home.
When I go on vacation, besides the regular "suitcase" for vacation, I have a much larger bag filled with a lot of stuff to venture home.
I almost always have an AR with me with mags as well.
Again, all depends on the situation as well as the weather.
I have bags packed at home, if all hell were to break loose, I could hoof it to my land. Couple of days on foot, but, I would be able to make it there pretty easily.
You are one of the few that are lucky enough to have an actual real and realistic bug out plan that makes sense

I used to believe in the BIG big out bag etc.
But after listening to a few podcasts, what could cause the big sudden “bug out” where I wouldn’t have time to pack, and bugging in was not the better option. Fire? Chemical spill? Earthquake if we were in that zone?
I went back to very basic, prepacked in the car. But I find the biggest thing that most bug out bags don’t contain is CASH. Most of those emergencies I listed, cash is going to a serve my family better than what else that is in the bag besides water or first aid

Yep. My Q was directed at OP, but thanks for sharing. I'm not going any farther than my neighbors so all I need is something to get home with if the engine stops running.
It's a laptop bag - doesnt shout "TACTICAL". It has a reusable space blanket, 550 cord, a buck 119, fire kit, Esbitt stove and a metal canteen/cup combo. Its 35 miles from work to home the long way so my needs are limited. Firearms are a separate conversation - omitted from this post but accounted for.

So many of my friends say “when SHTF I’m coming to your house” I just smile and say unless your bringing something to the table you’ll never make it up the driveway. They laugh and spend their money and time on stupid shit and that’s fine. Chances are If it’s that bad I won’t be here anyway and all of 5 people know where I will be, and them with me. Let’s do what we can to never implement our plans. But let’s have a plan.

Haha I have one friend, he’s an engineer... he used to say that I would need an engineer. I told him unless he has his sister with him who’s a nurse he would be getting a head shot.
Guess he got the last laugh, he went to the mountains outside of Asheville in part because of the safe act and I’m still behind enemy lines

Hmm where have I heard that before? Seriously we should be thinking about comms, supplies and plan of action rather than a bunch of old farts hammering away at the keyboard all night (thank you Al Gore!). Seriously lots of good peeps here need to get our shit together before it hits the proverbial fan. My 2 cents.

Those of us in the Hudson Valley can use the Mt. Beacon repeater or the one on top of Schunemunk Mountain.
Not sure if anything has changed but was trying to connect with Baofang for several months during weekly meeting Orange ham club with limited success. Really think something better than 5W is needed esp given mountainous area.
