Not a feeding device.A belt can be readily converted to a large capacity feeding device. All it takes is the simple attachment of another link which can be done with just one hand.
23. “Large capacity ammunition feeding device” means a magazine, belt, drum, feed strip, or similar device, that (a) has a capacity of, or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than ten rounds of ammunition,
It clearly says that a belt is in the above definition. Not a feeding device.
No. Then 2 10rd mags coupled is a twenty round?A single link becomes a belt when just one more link is attached to it.
Sure, but that is gay AF. "Belt fed" are not even mass produced anymore.I was clearly joking but all jokes aside can’t you just have a belt that’s no more than 10 rounds or does that bothers Cuomo menstrual cycle?
No. 2 separate things. A magazine can or cannot be readily convertible to accept more than 10 rounds. If it’s built as a 10 rounder, it cannot be readily convertible. If 2 10 rounders are taped together, you have 2 separate magazines taped together.No. Then 2 10rd mags coupled is a twenty round?
I want three of them.My latest build, should be good to go.

I am sorry if someone feels my question is a big waste of time. I am a newbie and learning.
In fact, I have been wanting a rifle for a long time, but commuting between the city and home daily didn't let me have enough time to think of getting a rifle. Now in this horrible time, I really feel that I need something in hand to protect my family. In the meantime, I stay home and have a lot of time now.
After many hours studying online, I finally decide to build an AR15 myself. The plan is to use Aero Precision upper and low with Thordsen Gen III stock. Finally, I need to find a gunsmith to pin and weld a muzzle brake. I just placed an order for Aero Precision Stripped Lower Receiver, Gen 2 - FDE Cerakote today, and am very excited to start the building process.
Id tell you to get a fixed AR because me personally I hate the thordsen stock, feels uncomfortable and looks horrible. Good luck on getting what you want.I am sorry if someone feels my question is a big waste of time. I am a newbie and learning.

Suggest reading NY PL 265. No muzzle brake, pistol grip, collapsible stock or any other "evil" feature on semi-auto rifle with ability to accept a detachable mag.
I would ask how and where you are getting your lower from considering almost all gunships in the state are closed and you came in talking about being a new buyer so i assume you dont know even a tabletop FFL, but I won't bother.
No offense. But since you do not have a full grasp on the laws, I would buy complete rifle from the dealer rather than building it yourself.
Yes. Just know that a fixed mag comes with a myriad of problems that affect functionality. The AR platform wasn’t designed to have a fixed magazine. So when a malfunction happens, it is difficult to clear. If this is just a toy to mess around with at the range, then it doesn’t matter. If it’s going to be used for home defense, then it does and you are better off with a featureless rifle.I understand what you meant. At this point, I still can go for a fixed mag AR if I am not sure. Once I have a fixed mag, everything else should be fine.
Whatchu talkin about willis? Gun shops around here (Utica/Rome area) are operating. I think they are limited hours and maybe curbside pickup, but advertising on FB guns & ammo for sale just about every day. AR lowers left & right and are being snapped up quickly. And then there's Runnings, Bass Pro, Gander, etc., I'm pretty sure they are essential. Runnings was out of AR lowers when I wanted to buy but I found a couple at a local shop at an even better price. I'm a lifelong firearms fan but an AR noob and may ask questions accordinglyI would ask how and where you are getting your lower from considering almost all gunships in the state are closed and you came in talking about being a new buyer so i assume you dont know even a tabletop FFL, but I won't bother.
Oh wait I just did.
Magic eight ball sniff test signs point to funky.
have a "NY Compliance FAQ" thread with a first post that is a giant list of common Q and A's and a big, fat disclaimer saying "this isn't legal advice, read the laws yourself and decide for yourself or pay the lawyer who will represent you in court if you're arrested to give you some advice before you do anything."Maybe a sticky thread "NY compliance questions" though I'm sure it would devolve into bickering over the definition of undefined terms like "permanent" and "conspicuously".
I will say for my part I have tried to dial back my knee jerk "this is a reporter/cop/troll" reaction to these because I'd very much like to reach that 10 out of a thousand that legitimately want to join our ranks as NY firearms owners.
