PERHAPS When say a Deputy Sheriff contacts his County Dispatch, THEY have the PP information attached to their system...Not everything is uniform, connected, or compatible across the State or between different Divisions.But, but, but…. That CAN’T be true!
Village PD also uses the County, I'm not sure about the City, however they are in the same Building/Call Center.

One of the problems when the Semi-automatic Rifle requirement was implemented, was differing Systems used to maintain Handgun Licenses information and issuance: there wasn't any place to add the endorsement (at least in Jefferson County) so they finally decided to just put the initials next to the Licenses Number. Why? Because our skilled and adept Legislators agreed to buy the cheapest system they could.

Pistol permits get “recertified” every 3 years (now) with who? Oh, right- the State Police. BGCs are being done by who, now? Hey, now- it’s the same State Police. How silly to think that the police would have a database of pistol permit holders.

Outdoor Insider in New Milford, while primarily an archery shop, has cases of popular pistol and rifle calibers and case prices in their little gun showroom area.
Nice place, pretty close to top dollar but top quality goods and staff are very knowledgeable.

Went to PA, in and out in under 5 minutes, no ID required. The only downside is that this FFL stated that the case lots and larger boxes go very quick and he gets deliveries every week. It's hunting season in this part of PA where I go. They had a wide variety of other stock, which I really appreciated.

Short of someone on here posting pics off of an officer's PC screen from their vehicle, the argument about cops knowing we have CCW permits will go on and on.
Supposedly, there is a NYS Court decision that prohibits LEO's from asking if you have handguns in your vehicle. And there is no requirement in New Yorkistan to tell an officer you are carrying in your vehicle when stopped (unlike here in the Carolina's, where we ARE required to immediately inform them if we are stopped by them). I have had officers in NYS who stopped me ask me things like "Do you have anything on you that I need to be aware of that could injure me?" which seems like a work around attempt to that Court decision.
But I do know for a fact that New Yorkistan discloses our CCW information to others, - specifically Canada, - that I have experienced. I lived in WNY for 60+ years, and frequently traveled into Canada over that time. And yet, somehow on the very first trip I took into Fort Erie shortly after I got my NY CCW, I was hit with a raft of gun questions at Canadian Customs unlike anything I had endured over the prior decades, including: Are you bringing any firearms in Canada? How many HANDGUNS do you own? WHY DO YOU FEEL THE NEED TO OWN HANDGUNS, MR. ______??? I haven't traveled into Canada recently. But every time since that happened to me after I had my NY CCW, I have been asked multiple questions if I am bringing any guns into Canada. And my answer is always the same: "ANY firearms I may own have been left in the US today, - just for you!" I am sad for the Canadians living under that tyrant Turdeau.

You forgot now when you recertify your pistol permit you must now check if you have a semi automatic rifle permit. Some have to register rifles too.

Yup. And we must give ALL of that info to the NYSP. It’s not hard to imagine from there that they know who has a pistol permit when they pull up an individual’s bona fides during a traffic stop.

I’m refusing to have it added. We will see what they do when I buy a new pistol and tell them it must not be on there. From what I hear they add it with any update.
What does that have to do with recertification of a pistol permit anyway. I think you’re right to not check it.

I live a rifle shot from the border now… there has been a NYSP car equipped with cameras sitting by the roadside just inside NY on and off the past week.
Coincidentally, or perhaps not, a Tioga county gun shop bought a place down the street from me on the PA side and has been busily working on getting it setup. What interesting things you learn talking to the mailman!
