No. It was chronoed by others with a 4 inch barrel. A 3.5 inch barrel will lose about 40 or so fps.

Energy from a low velocity pistol bullet means absolutely nothing. It's too small. That's why thousands upon thousands of people that have been hit in non vital areas survived. If energy played a factor, they'd be knocked out or killed immediately. That isn't the case. Even with rifle bullets it isn't the case in many circumstances.

As far as measurable results go, it's been proven that 12 to 18 inches in gel will reach vitals.

Energy most definitely plays a role; arguably it is the energy and momentum which heavily influences how well a bullet will penetrate. Most pistol cartridges just demand much more precision relative to rifle cartridges in order to have immediate effects on target.

And yes I agree that any pistol cartridge providing 12-18 inches of penetration should be more than sufficient for self-defense. Hence why I consider 9mm to be more than adequate for such purposes. But when you're dealing with barriers, soft armor, or an otherwise hardened target, .40s&w and .357 sig have certain advantages.

Yet the 9mm penetrates adequately just like all the others. 12 to 18 inches in gel and sufficient penetration on a human body and sometimes more depending on the load. That isn't a myth and actual usage on the street proves that.

Well... ok those are all crazy scenarios. You got me there. But if 5 guys are shooting up a bank or bar(why do you have a firearms at a bar? Alcohol and guns... bad mix) sure you can get up pull and shoot one or maybe even two before they gun you down. They guy in the truck mowing down people at a state fair. Yup you got me there. Unload on the truck. You might hit the driver. You might hit 9 other people as the bullets wiz past the truck. Not to be offensive but i think those are poor examples.
Go ask a cop and judge and a lawyer. They will all tell you that in this state the citizen has a duty to retreat and not to use deadly force. The self defense coarse i took told us the same thing. What is it penal law 35 or 36? i forget it has been awhile since i read it... It has a lot to do with the person knowing beyond a doubt that there will or is a crime going on and that a citizen is not allowed to take the law into his or her own hands. It is a fucked up and poorly written law. Even in your own house you cant be the "instigator". Even a shithead prosecutor could turn "leave my property or I shoot" into instigating. Even cops get charged with murder if they shoot someone. It is all about what the judge decides if it was a clean shoot and allows prosecution.

Ok now go and shout and rant about how you are allowed to go shoot people and assume that you are the only one that took a self defense course.
