Weapons of any kind, including but not limited to firearms, whether registered or unregistered, machine guns, rifles, shotguns, antique firearms, black powder rifles, black powder shotguns, or any muzzle-loading firearms, and/or other weapons including but not limited to any variety of knife, electronic dart gun, electronic stun gun, cane sword, club, billy, blackjack, bludgeon, plastic knuckles, metal knuckles, chukka stick, sand bag, sandclub, wrist-brace type slingshot or slungshot, shirken or "Kung Fu star", razor, imitation pistol, or any other dangerous or deadly instrument or weapon (or an imitation thereof that could be reasonably mistaken for a deadly instrument or weapon) are prohibited from the Fairgrounds, except for those weapons authorized to be carried by law enforcement personnel and Peace Officers and those weapons on display in a Fair exhibit by authorized branches of the U.S. Military, Reserves, and National Guard, provided that the weapons are unloaded, in a safe condition, and appropriately secured while displayed.

EXCEPTION: Visitors attending organized Gun Shows at the Fairgrounds may possess firearms in an unloaded and safe condition provided that those firearms are items intended to be purchased, sold or traded at the Gun Show.

So what. Every place you visit likely has the same policy. I carry everywhere except work. Most stores have that policy it does not mean it is illegal and you will be arrested. That sign or policy has NO POWER law. That means it is not grounds for arrest. Also that policy does not account for gun vendors selling guns. It only covers law enforcement, military and visitors to gun shows. Policy is flawed.

I think the difference is that this is state owned land. I know nys pistol law states Courthouses and fedral law desginates schools and fedral buildings, so I understand there is a grey area at the fairgrounds as it is state owned land and a policy put in place by a state run entity.

I carry pretty much every where as well and if you have an unrestricted permit you can but I think it is wise to try to be cautious when it comes to state owned buildings.

Don't forget the state can pull your permit at thier will. "Valid until revoked". NYS doesn't give a shit about how they revoke it or how much it would cost someone to fight to get their permit back.

Just be careful and don't ever take your permit for granted. Just saying.

You have to check all firearms at the door, they will ensure they are unloaded and place a zip tie with a card on your weapon.

Experienced the same down at a gun show in TX basically, happening to other people. Except down there it was LEO as the only people allowed to do that, but not sure about how it works in NY.

(I'd carry down in TX, but I'll be dammed if I trust NYPD / Port Authority to actually respect peaceable journey laws so I can go to the airport with my firearm in a locked case. I only carry down there if I'm flying out of Stewart.)

It’s not about being some big tough man carrying a gun at a gun show it’s about carrying a gun everywhere your legally allowed too. Why not do it. If you followed all the rules on where you can and can’t carry a gun you’d never carry one anywhere.

Also are you saying nothing bad could happen at a gun show? All guns there are unloaded. Some crazy liberal could go shoot the place up.

Yes, there have indeed been shootings at gun shows....

Not many, but it does occur. I carry everywhere that I go. I never leave home unarmed. You want to? Go right ahead, we that carry do not carry in order to be tough guys; you may, but we do not!

The worst that can happen is they say leave the gun show. You sound like a liberal raising the alarm that you will be arrested. So what if there are NYSP there. Act appropriately and there will be no issues. I do choose to ignore the gun free signs everywhere they are posted and hold no power of law. If I didn’t I would be able to carry my gun around my house and a few other places. I do it twice a year at the Hamburg gun show and another time at the outdoor show.

Of course guns can only be stolen from gun shows in Roanoke just like guns can’t be carried illegally into gun free zones. Why didn’t I think of that. You seriously don’t think crimes can happen anywhere? As I asked before do you carry a pistol. If so you likely do the same thing I’m advocating for.
