Yea He belongs in jail. I see the video is cropped but at the beginning I can see a couple of police officers telling him to put the gun down and he is pointing it towards them.

I also question his judgement in going to a Black Lives Matter rally. Just like the Anti Trumpers went to Trumps Rallies looking for problems.

I don't know what video you were watching but they (antifa) drove him back over a block before he was taken into custody and those are the first clearly identifiable officers I saw. The guy was retreating nearly 100% of the time and pursued by multiple people. His conduct was absolutely NOT deserving of being stripped of his 1st and 2nd Amendment rights, his livelihood and his freedom.

He had just as much right to be there as any of those punks in hoodies. It wasn't the smartest move on his part but being dumb doesn't have any bearing on criminal culpability. Did he fear for his life? If yes it doesn't matter if you wouldn't have been scared. He was. I wouldn't have drawn until ready to fire but I don't knock the guy. The crowd was spraying paint at him to use as a torch. Previous incidents involved bicycle locks to the head.

And he had every right to be there. If BLM protested in your street, you'd be there. Maybe not with a camera, but you'd be there.

I did - more than once. The jury didn't have a chance to get it right or wrong. After it was determined that the jury pool was tainted, he opted for a bench trial.

You're trying to blame him for being there and that is not correct. He has a right to be there. Unless he planned violence, his motives for being there are irrelevant. If you went to those bad areas, Bud, you'd be blameless when you got your ass kicked; at least as far as the law is concerned. It seems that you fail to grasp that distinction.

That guy was scared for good reason. At the beginning I count somewhere between 8 and 12 individuals in black advancing on the man. One masked individual has something smoking in his hand, and another (also with his face covered) had a flagpole that could easily double as a weapon. If it was going to go badly, he was about 2 seconds from being a bloody mess on the pavement with those odds.

He drew in self defense and that is arguably justified by the circumstance. Pointing the weapon at the crowd was not justified based on what we can see. Was it a felony use of a weapon? When considered in this defensive context I'd say no.

If you watch closely, you can see at least a few of the masked faces with black hoodies screw out when the gun comes out, including the one with the smoking item in his hand. Things were not looking good for him until he drew.
