I just did a couple of weeks ago. My buddy got a B14 with the polymer stock one and brought it to the range. It leaves the best Remington 700 SPS in the dust.
They just did what people has been asking for years. I don't think the current bergara prices are going to last. That rifle has to be worth a lot more.
New bolt release, timmy trigger, new extractor, action squared with polished bolt and everything. Bergara barrels (Partners with Shilen) .... the stock is actual heavier polymer and not cheap plastic. The whole thing feels like one of those Weatherby's but better. And they shoot like the savage hog hunter inside an inch out of the box. .. with good ammo obviously. The stock has some weight, it almost feel like those corian countertops. It is not stone but a polymer but it
looks and feels solid. It is nothing like the SPS hogue garbage. (although the hogue upgrade wiht the actual aluminum squeleton is a nice one but not in the SPS)

It is an entirely new action that follows the footprint of the R700 so one can use the same stocks, bases, etc...

Sounds like a good rifle. I might pick one up someday.....after I pay my other rifle off. Remington needs to step it up.

An old mosin is a sub .25 moa bargain. Possibly the most accurate rifle in the world and can be had for around $200. Putin designed the action before he was born. Strongest action in the world. Mek is not a fan because there is noting he can do to improve on perfection (real perfection that that glock shit slogan).

Is that an axis II or axis I ? I think they all come with the accutrigger.
I guess it doesn't matter. The Axis I trigger is easy to improve w/o buying an aftermarket trigger.

well these deals are all crappy plastic stocks and scopes but the scope holds zero then they are great for
the intended purpose that is a reliable and accurate hunter beater rifle. Later on one can always
change the stock or the scope if that doesn't work too well.
Mosin budget for something that can actually shoot.

Pretty sure it's a Nikon. So it is a decent scope. Better than what comes on a scoped Remington.

That's my goal you just explained to a tee. A reliable, rifle that will shoot accurate enough off the bench for a few hundred yards with a descent scope that will also be a thrasher gun in the woods is what I'm seeking. The action has to be good enough and doesn't necessarily have to be butter smooth.

If I wanted a sub moa rifle, I'd be looking at a thousand and a half dollar rifle and a thousand dollar scope bedded properly with match grade triggers and ammo.

This rifle will be shot with cheap surplus or inexpensive FMJ'S at the range for fun and descent soft or HP ammo in the woods.

Then I would get the savage 10 with the Nikon on it for $430 plus transfer.

I don't think I have a ever seen a new scoped savage that didn't have a Nikon. If anyone of u r interested in this rifle set up, I can run down to my local herbs and see what scope is on it.

You are right. I just went down to take a look. The savage xp kit now comes with a bushnell and the axisII comes with a weaver scope. I talked to the counter guy and he said the xp used to come with nikon but not anymore.

On a side note they had a bergara rifle in the display case.

They used to throw non branded Junkers on the axis

How was the bergara? I'm torn between that and the tikka.

They were busy so I didn't ask to see it. Looked nice. I am hoping to take my tikka t3x Ctr out tomorrow for it the first time. I'll let u know.

My Axis is the XP package with the Bushnell scope. It's accurate, repeatable, and not once shifted zero. I'll be the first to admit the stock is fuckin junk, best way to explain it lol. But when I can swing the extra cash it will get a good stock. Might eventually replace the scope also, the 22-250 I got will reach accurately more than the scope is useful for. But I don't need it changed right away. I couldn't have gotten into a new rifle this accurate any cheaper.

My Savage - Trophy Model - is in for repairs right now, so that's a negative. Also a negative is what dsdmmat said above about the Mossberg. Bolt has a bit of wiggle, so if you need a quick follow up, it's gonna suck. Positives are the adjustable Accu-trigger, and the accuracy. I shoot pretty well with it. Hopefully that negates the need for a follow-up.

(Admitting to being lazy/ignorant here, but I never bothered to figure out how exactly the scope works, or what MOA means, or anything like that. What I can say is that at 75-100 yards, standing, I can group my shots inside the ring that says 10 almost every time. Even better if I'm kneeling. Might not be that great for most of you, lol, but I've been happy with those results.)
