We boycotted olympics before, dumbest idea in the world. It only hurts the athletes who have been working their entire life to compete on the world stage.

That is not correct. I agree a boycott hurts our athletes. But it quite obviously hurts the host country which is why they are making threats about a potential boycott. Olympic success is a propaganda coup for the host country and a boycott takes away from that.
That doesn't mean we should boycott. But I think we'd look pretty weak if we participated and then watched the chicoms invade taiwan immediately afterwards.

During the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, American athlete Jesse Owens shut down Hitler's claims of a superior Aryan race. That historical moment would never happen if U.S. boycotted 1936 Olympics, which were used by Hitler as propaganda tool.
No point in pretending boycotting the olympics will make us look strong. If Taiwan is invaded before or after the olympics it will make not difference. Our response will be the same, We will say what a bad actor China and take no other actions, while our politicians and woke company CEO take full advantage of the money making situation.

I suppose I dont care, or I dont know how that negatively effects us. My bigger concern is China trying to tell is what to do when I already believe they own our president, along with countless other politicians, and they have a huge influence our many of our billionaire corporations. Basically, they are looking to own the US and the rest of the world and thats not good for us so I say screw the CCP.
i look at the source to see what is driving it. China saying not to do something is China daring you to do it. They will then go to the UN floor and say how racist the US is and we only boycotted the olympics because we are a horrible nation. It plays well for their population and strengthens the CCP‘s propaganda. We go over there and win most of the gold medals and they got nothing to say.

With historical Beijing normal February daytime high temperatures in the 50s, the venue selection was suspect from the start. Maybe they should move the venue to Colorado like the MLB.
