Pred hunting is 8+ minutes fox calling, up to 30 minutes Coyote (my way of calling) and down the road heading out to next spot to call, progress.... rack them up one call after another few miles apart all night to next or many zip codes LOL... way to fill truck box LOL.

I've heard that before. I can see about getting access to the surrounding land too. The neighbor down the street has some acreage with a large field that kind of connects to one of the fields my parents have. He deer hunts, so he may let us predator hunt too.

You have land - would be fun for you to sit when ya have time? Get a road kill Deer to place out in CORRECT SPOT on your land to still hunt it for preds... Slice at the hind quarters of butt on deer with knife. Watch it after a week from stand with rifle. Day or night. With some luck you should see coons, fox, yotes, crows, etc....

Well, I sure as hell don't know what I'm doing. I could use the pointers. I don't have any of the stuff.

If you guys are actually interested, start a group PM. I'll talk to the landowner (my parents) this week/weekend. They've told me that I'm perfectly welcome to come out with people before, so it won't be a problem. I just like to re-confirm with them first.

I have everything we need for 2 people. I have 2 gun lights, 2 scan lights even know we only need 1 and I have a Alpha Dogg™ - Primos Hunting The second gun light I have is an amazon model, it works great but its just not as bright as the one I purchased a couple of years ago from I believe Coyote Lights.

If you have more then one spot,,,,all the better. Hunt one spot for a half hour to 45 mins and then do the same at the next spot.

Cause like Bushmaster said,,,it doesnt really matter much if you have seen them in the area when it pertains to coyote,,,they normally live and hunt in a 10 square mile area.

Ive researched predator hunting and have been doing it for a little while. This is what I know. Be dead ass quiet the minute you get out of the truck, be quiet getting to your spot, set your shit up in a spot that has cross winds and sit and be dead quiet for 15 mins,,,,then start the caller and the decoy,,,,then you either see something or you dont,,,,then move on to the next spot or go home, grab a beer or shoot the shit.

This weekend obviously isnt good for me. One, I'm on call. Two, its Christmas. I'm on call every other week. So after this Sunday Im not on call.

Keep interior light off as door opens, close door one click only, wait for other cars to drive by as you stop at same time so as not to be heard pulling over, and few other things I do.

Get the scent out, Coyotes and Fox will go to butt first, and be VERY leery for days before they feel safe eating.

Just go out on a road as a test with dim light in red, shine down road to a marker or sign and watch it light up like eyes. Thats all you need trust me. Your not looking to view and see scenery, your looking for eyes is all, and it don't take much to reflect them, to bright or straight on and they spook. If ya need to research predator hunting just ask me LOL.... Done it for like 35-40 years LOL... Yes after holidays.... But I responded to group pm..

Two years ago I called DEC region 8 to place a roadkill Deer out for pred hunting. DEC officer Malloy gave his NO# incase I was checked on. Here is his note.... If he still works here? Never had Yotes come in but lots of Reds, Grays, Birds, Coons, etc... Don't think he works there anymore?

You do want a bright red light for your gun. So you can easily see through your scope when you see a predator and turn it on. Scan lights are different, you are only searching for eyes so a flood beam thats not bright is perfect. Ive done plenty of research on predator hunting and have done it quite a few times, Ive called them in, I dont spook them,,,,I'm just so excited to see them I miss.

Rochester Craigslist two days ago had a good ad. Somebody in Greece had a ICOTEC Ecaller, Electronic Rabbit decoy? Coyote call, Howler, Mouth call, etc... For 100.00 best offer. It sold first day. About 200.00 plus in items. Good deal for starter hunter.

Went out the other night saw eyes roughly 400yds away. It walked over to within 200yds once we started calling and then ducked behind a hill. Played female invitation howls right before quitting. Went to pick up the caller and seen the same eyes again. Could of been a deer, who knows. Packed up our shit and headed back to the truck which was parked by the road with fields on the other side and sure enough there was a coyote close by calling back to our female invitation howls. I love when they start talking,,,its a beautiful thing

I too went out day before Xmas, sat in tree stand to watch for yotes going to a deer kill 200yrds away, saw one Red Fox pass by me, let him walk at 4:50. At 5:15 I started to call after sitting for two hours watching, called in one coon and same red... Let them walk...

Deer will bob head up and down in scan light, not moving around much. House cat same way sitting tight, Yote, (Red) Fox, will lose eyes in light then appear 50yrds away etc... Gray pretty much charge in to (good call).

No kill pics yet, what gives? lol Funny thing, before deer season I had yotes behind my place every night, they would make their rounds and come back, 3-5 times every night! Since deer season, not a song from them. Did hear a couple a few nights ago though.
I have some prints to post up if I can find the damn things. Had them a few weeks ago but now MIA. My mom found them on a fresh deer kill, not yote prints, and she has the biggest dog in the neighborhood, a Great Pyrenees. And these tracks made her dog's tracks look small. They weren't enlarged from snow melt either, these were fresh. I may have to see if she still has copies of the pictures she can send me if I can't find mine.

I never gone yet, yes it will be tough after deer season, they clean up wounded, and lost deer kills.
