I got a couple coyotes during deer season this year, I've never gone out specifically for predators though. Might have something to do with me not being able to stay up much past 10 lol

If the snow would stop, I would be out.
I want to try coyote hunting this year. We've caught a few on the trail camera. I need to fix a "treestand" we have though. It's about a 4x6 enclosed blind on top of some scaffolding. It's got a door and some windows. I think someone put a heater in there a few years back too

I'd love to find a local place that would work for coyotes. I've never tried, but I want to do it. My cousin has a cow farm down in Wayland, but it's an hour + drive to get there.

I would never get into a predator contest. I would surely lose. Started coyote hunting I think 4 years ago. 2 of those years I didnt hunt,,,I was recovering from atv accident that almost killed me. So this is actually my 2nd or 3rd year hunting them. Ive called them in, in the past,,,,got overly excited to see one, took the shot and missed. Happened at least once but a couple of times Ive got them to come in and by the time Ive seen them behind the tree 15ft away, they must of seen me because they take off. I hunt roughly about 5 mins away from the Firing Pin in Bergen,,,where I grew up. Have a house in Churchville now.
I love predator hunting even know I never get anything. Love being out at night calling, trying to get something to come in. Took vacation the rest of the week so I decided to go out tonight with my young neighbor,,,,who is actually quite a hunter for not having a father that hunts and only being into it the last year or maybe 2 years.
If someone is interested in going some night from Monroe or Genesee county , lets get to know each other and we will go. I have an extra gun light and scan light,,,plus an electronic caller.
I dont really enjoy going out in the dark to hunt them by myself. Gun and all,,,, and I still kind of crap myself if I here a noise and there is nobody with me. Someones with me and I'm a grown MANNNN, not crapping whatsoever.
I hunt with NY legal AR's,,,,cant remove the magazine. Either 223, 204 or 6.8,,,If this bothers you,,,happy hunting

Well I went out that night,,,,again seen nothing. Wasnt happy with the location I chose, even know Ive called fox in there before during the daylight hours. Its the end of a landing strip and there is woods on both sides all the way up and down. Its just not wide enough to see anything coming from a distance,,except for down the runway. The woods are very, very thick.

If no E caller? Use my fav over the years.... PC-3 mouth call, you can even bite down on reed to do canine puppy yips calling in Yotes, or loud squalls of rabbit or low squeaks etc... My FAVORITE call I used for like 30 years. Johnny Stewart Pitch Control Predator Call PC3

Gotta wait few days for warmer weather. Ground is frozen crunching sounds as ya walk from truck, tires crunching as ya pull over etc... No sense in spooking good call spots, and call a bit longer with deep snow areas. I'm looking for just ONE NICE Red Fox is all to tan. I'll let the rest walk.....

That pic is most likely Coyote. German Shepherd, dogs, Wolves are more rounded a bit. Yote is pointed as your picture is. But snow or mud can change the facts. Pic could even be distorted deer print seeing only two hooves prints?

Then from what I see in pic it is a Coyote, pointed, not rounded as a dog print. Pretty cool, thanks for posting pictures. I own a PUREBRED GSD his track in snow right now is not pointed like one would think, It's more Wolf like print. So I would besure your pic is a Coyote print.
If anyone is seriously interested, we should meet up. I've access to land about 15 minutes from Canandaigua. I've caught both fox and coyotes on the trail camera in the past couple months. I've always wanted to try predator hunting. I want to make a few different hats (fox, raccoon, etc).

If you guys are actually interested, start a group PM. I'll talk to the landowner (my parents) this week/weekend. They've told me that I'm perfectly welcome to come out with people before, so it won't be a problem. I just like to re-confirm with them first.

Just so you know.... Yotes and Fox are NOT like deer hunting your land. The preds you heard or seen today could be miles away come tomorrow. Calling preds could be 15 calls tonight night etc... with no eyes or shots, tomorrow could be 15 calls with shots at every call spot.
I've heard that before. I can see about getting access to the surrounding land too. The neighbor down the street has some acreage with a large field that kind of connects to one of the fields my parents have. He deer hunts, so he may let us predator hunt too.
