Covid 19 is real. Covid 19 is killing people. That is an undisputed fact. Shutting down nearly all of society was completely wrong. Did the shut down slow the spread? Yeah, more than likely. Was it needed? No, not at all.

The shutdown may have slowed the spread slightly, but it likely won't have any effect on the total number killed.
The cost of the shutdown can only be guessed at, but even the most generous estimate is "devastating". It's value may be 0 or close to it.

It isn’t rocket science that the reason for that is less infections due to the wearing of masks, distancing, and everything else that is being done whether it’s an overreach or not.

None of that will affect the number of infections, it just makes it take longer to get to the same total number.
The % of people that need to be infected to provide herd immunity does not change with masks or social distancing or any other BS unless you continue that stuff literally *forever*.

Yeah, I'm gonna need some pretty solid proof of that before I'm even remotely okay with these edicts. As in, on average, wearing a mask in an area with population density of X lowers transmission rates by Y%... and here's the data that prove it. And it needs to be done for each measure independently and across different population densities and demographics. You know, actual science. Experts say a lot of shit and they can shove it all up their collective asses without actual proof - ESPECIALLY when it's being used to curtail individual liberties.
These measures didn't stop you and yours from getting it. I trust she's doing well now?
Not to mention the fact that we've been told many of these models DID account for social distancing in varying degrees and they were STILL wrong. They screwed this up by completely missing the enormous number of asymptomatic cases until after the damage was done. Now they're trying blow sunshine up our asses by changing the public's recollection and perception.
My unqualified opinion is that inaccurate assumptions regarding asymptomatic cases were the true Achilles heel in their modeling.
I said it before, the more these people speak, the more of the truth comes out.

How about solid, concrete proof that’s logical. I work in the Bronx. Half my work force in my yard got it. 3 dead. The rest are either home fighting it or in a hospital. I didn’t get it. Why? Because when I go into the building at work to sign in, I don an N95 mask with gloves and do so. After I finish, I demask and wash up. I then go to my car and remain there for hours until I get a call on the radio to move a train from one track to another rather than stay in the break room watching TV like previous. After I move a train from one track to another, I take off my mask and gloves and wash up again and go back to my car.
Those that didn’t do that in the beginning and heed our supervision’s instructions are now positive. Those that did and continue to do what I’m doing aren’t positive in various states of health. It isn’t rocket science. Wearing PPE, distancing, and decontamination make you unlikely to get the virus. If you don’t take those precautions and instead act normal touching your face, sitting next to a positive person on a bench, having that positive person talking to you while on that bench, you are likely to get it.

It sure as hell affected my infection at work or lack of it. I’ve been doing this since the beginning. Those that have as well haven’t been infected either. Under your logic, doctors and nurses treating this shouldn’t wear PPE and touch their faces bringing it home to their kids and parents.

Or maybe I didn’t bring it home because I take precautions. Nobody knows. But what is a fact is that the wearing of PPE by doctors and nurses greatly reduces their chance of infection and contaminating others that may be affected by complications rather than wearing none. Those that may have died if doctors and nurses brought it home now will not die because they aren’t exposed. It really is that simple.
You expose those susceptible to complications now they may get those complications. If you don’t expose them, they aren’t counted in deaths and complications because they never got it.

Flu numbers. Who do you know ever died from the flu. I sure as hell never knew anyone. But I do know 3 that did from Covid that where otherwise heathy in their 40’s and 50’s. That describes 90 percent of the population on this forum.
Bad analogy.... I don't know a single person that died from Covid.
I do not wear this PPE shit, neither does anyone that I know, unless absolutely mandated by their employer.
People are dying, that is a fact. This entire process of shutting everything down and near enslavement of the citizens has been a joke from the start.

This is worse than the flu for sure. The replication rate is pretty solidly a multiple of two or three times that of the flu. Even factoring in the mild and asymptomatic cases that hadn't originally been known or counted, the mortality rate is at least a multiple of the flu's mortality rate and probably several multiples of it.
Here's the thing - this is a complex situation. The situation, it's causes and mitigating factors CANNOT be nicely bundled into a soundbite or a few succinct sentences. Do masks and distancing and lockdowns have some effect - undoubtedly. Are they the one magical cure that somehow the earlier models didn't account for? NOPE. As with many things, reality is likely somewhere in the middle. The devil is in the details, as it were.

Well I dont know anyone who died from covid either. But people do. When I speak of numbers look at them. Flu numbers... hopeful you are not listening to that Fauci guy. His model stated

What to believe? Numbers are just numbers. Educated guesses. Some are politically motivated and some are not. But at the end of the day they are just numbers and this virus kills people that wouldn’t have died if they had gotten the regular flu. I can attest to that. 2 that I know are just like me. Another is a heath nut.
So whatever number is out there is irrelevant. I guess one can dispute the numbers if that tickles their fancy to promote an agenda . Sure. But because numbers are inflated, it doesn’t mean that people aren’t dying or requiring intensive care that the regular flu would not have required for those people that get the regular flu every few years with no ill effects.

You were in one of the worst. It's probably influencing your perception - same with my experience in a rural upstate county that has only seen 1 COVID death. Again... somewhere in the middle.
We as a nation have lost TRILLIINS of dollars for near nothing.
I am truly sorry that people have died because of this virus. I am.
But to close damn near everything for such a low threat is unbelievable in the least.
