Columbia county should be green. County clerks office is a dream to work with.
navy/army 44cal BP colt pistol .. no PP needed .. so why have PP to begin with ....
Tioga County is one of the very best 2A counties in the state.. Unrestricted if you want one with a nice letter of explanation to the county judge, and he is a 2a guy.. Wife and I both got our unrestricted permits first try, NO classes required ... They should certainly be green, no question.. EVERYONE I know in Tioga County with no exception has their unrestricted CC permit.. You buy a gun in say Owego, where there are a couple gun shops, run the receipt to the sheriff dept handgun window, and you have the gun in your possession , on your permit, and on the way home in an hour total.... bob
I believe so, but am not 100%sure... Best bet would be to stop in to Lock n Load in Owego, look around at their nice selection of guns and gear, and ask them about it.. They are much more up to date, and would know a lot better than I do. Nice guys, and know whats happening with the carry permit situation in Tioga County.... bobIs it still that way? I just moved here.
Can anyone give me insight into Albany and the surrounding counties? I know the CCIA has everything up in arms right now, but I have a friend moving from Alaska that has a pistol she wants to bring, and I'm trying to give her the most information I can.
I'm creating a pistol permit map, but I don't know the relative difficulty in obtaining a "full" carry license with no restrictions in all the counties. I've filled in the map with the counties I know. I'll keep updating this map if people let me know what each county should be. Please go from your experience and what you've heard people say. Please don't just copy the info from another site because I'm not sure how accurate it is.
Can anybody shed some light on the counties they're from, or that they know of?

FWIW: I applied for, and was granted my unrestricted permit while an 18 year-old resident of Alegany County way back in '63. I've never had any difficulty carrying while going through two self-defense court cases, routine traffic stops, membership in gun clubs & contact with NYS/DEC Rangers while hunting, required DOD notifications while assigned to USAF & Army assignments in New York State, nor more recent required NYS renewals---even recently as a resident of Clinton County since 1984, and holding my original Alegany permit! Even more recently, a Clinton County judge recommended I transfer my permit to Clinton County---absolutely no problem transferring & renewing my unrestricted permit. For those who might "qualify" & choose to do so for whatever reason, you might look into transferring to a "new" county---or even from out-of-state! Also, for over 50 years, I've had no difficulty obtaining unrestricted non-resident permits in six other states at the same time; including MA., by simply presenting my valid NYS resident permit. (I know---it remains to be seen what current FED and Hochul BS etc. will do when the dust settles!)Can anyone give me insight into Albany and the surrounding counties?
