In our county you can get your purchase permit before you go gun shopping so you can bring it home from the dealers without making a second trip to the dealer, after you get it just go back to the clerk and they put it on your permit if you don't use it you have to return it to the clerks office forget just how many days you have

Yes, I can't remember how long, but the FFL said after a certain amount of time, if they don't specifically deny, he can let the sale go through. I have purchased guns since then with zero delay. I'm still not convinced it wasn't the FFL, never bought from him before or since and it was on the news that he had some troubles with the BATF, big troubles and he's out of business.

I do not believe the state is anywhere close to seizing registered guns personally. Down the road it's a possibility, but it won't be in the cards yet. It will also make an adjudication by SCOTUS incredibly hard to avoid.

I assume there is data on the number of people who are given a gun at 3 days, yet subsequent time (7 days) would have been enough to determine that they were not allowed to have a gun AND as a result of this, it was their first gun, AND they subsequently committed a crime with it.

To support legislation, it should be fact-driven, so I want to see those numbers.

when Beikirchs was in business I bought a hand gun and they called the NICS phone line and I was denied? I said WTF? I have had a permit for 15 years, now Im denied...the guy held up his hand and said "don't panic, give it 5 minutes" I was kinda pissed and wondering if my permit was revoked. he called back and the purchased was approved in less than 90 seconds?
the guy just laughed and said, it happens all the time, they get over whelmed and your name must have come close to a prohibitive person, so it gets denied, call back 5 min later and boom, you're in"

one of the guys that I work with frequently gets the 3 day wait.
He has a UPIN and has had a pistol permit since the late 70s. Doesn't help.
it sucks when he finds a collectible gun at places like Cabelas ( 3 hrs away).
He makes the purchase then gets delayed.
Has to make the trip again to pick it up after the 3 day hold.
He has never been denied a purchase though, just cant leave with it.

I heard the same report on the radio thursday afternoon, it was in the form of "an email from a reliable source to the radio host (that I happen to know ) that tipped him off to the upcoming strategies and plans from the Governor." I know the radio host has internal connections, and trust that he did in fact recieve an email relating such information. I do not know who the source is, but i don't believe that the host would be spewing information such as this just for fun or ratings or whatever. There's something to this, but I think we're all going to have to wait until the boom is lowered before we know what hits us. I hope someone in the NYSP becomes a whistle blower and releases the plans, but I ain't betting on it !

If I recall correctly, NYC registered them ostensibly because they felt they needed to know where they were, Then a couple or so years later they banned and confiscated them. They may have let people move them out of the city. Of that I am not sure. Anyway, it was the classic case of registration - ban or confiscate.

A friend of mine's family who used to live in the City back then (I think it was sometime in the 1960s) did just that. Moved themselves and their stash to Jersey before the City could get it. Of course they chose New Jersey so it ain't actually safer their either.

I am sad to report that I have complied online. I figured it was better to do it now, as I figure that the Princess and his scumbags in Albany could easily pass more anti gun legislation (like the social media password bill) at a moments notice in the middle of the night.

Hopefully, if they do, it gets struck down by SCOTUS before the next 5 years is up, because there is no way I am giving up my passwords for that grossly unconstitutional proposed law.

I've heard an expanded safe act, 100 SP investigators that report directly to him, internal affairs to monitor the social media accounts of troopers that speak out against him. There's even some talk about door-to-door visits by the state police. Has anyone else heard anything like this? I don't wanna start any rumors, just wondering if what I have heard, anyone else may of heard also? I hope it's incorrect!!

Don’t be to sure they won’t apply the new standards they pull out of there legislative asses to everyone. Nothing to stop them from making all pp holders start all over under the new rules. After all we know the BOR means nothing to them.

Cuomo already has access to your pistol permit info, so not registering in time was pointless.
You could've brought the state police knocking at your door.
You don't want a state police investigator knocking at your door for any reason.

I expect the Dems to try burying a lot of their wishlist in the budget legislation, like FUAC wants to do with pot legalization.

Wouldn't surprise me to see a push for a Connecticut-style FOID card required for buying ammo in the state. No need to register firearms when you already have a list of ammo buyers.

Nonsense. The proposed 2019 budget contains numerous examples, including gun control proposals. We'll see plenty of stand-alone bills, and will likely see some of those that have been introduced in every session make it out of committee this year and become law.

Correct, once they were banned NYPD knew who had them registered in the city, it started by sending a nicely worded letter home telling you that you must either: remove it out of city limits, or surrender it, If you chose to take it out of the city they demanded proof, if you ignore us we will knock on your door.

The only thing budget bills contain are appropriations. What Cuomo is talking about is part of the negotiations with the legislature, not the actual contents of the bills.
