Everybody does realize I'm joking right? I live in a 2nd floor apt. I don't even have a basement! I proly have FBI agents headed over there now
This goes to show the difference between a short barrel and a long barrel. The Speer Gold Dots 147 gr did really well from a longer barrel but not so well from a shorter 3 inch CCW barrel. The moral of the story is.... Research your ammo. Many of us do not and end up carrying ammo that is underperforming when transferred over from a duty gun to a CCW gun.We have to use any 9mm 147 gr JHP. I like that we have the option to choose which manufacturer. I prefer Gold Dots.

3 inch barrel
4 inch barrel
You know something, I've been considering getting a 19 barrel for my 26 for the extra velocity. It looks kind of weird but I'd get the compactness of the 26 while having the ballistics of the 19.We are only authorized to carry the Glock 19 on duty and the 19 or 26 off duty. I choose to carry the 19 off duty and this is one of he big reasons why.
NF, why wouldn't they work? Once work always work?
I only use certain magazines for the range. The carry magazines never get used except for about 30 rounds each to make sure they are reliable. They probably would. But, I'm not willing to risk my life on that.
Magazine and recoil springs wear. I probably shoot around 1500 rounds of 9mm a year. That's a decent amount of wear and tear on a spring. I want to be 100% confident that nothing has changed and everything will function flawlessly.

I'm thinking of going by the same approach with the recoil spring to keep things brand new for carry.
Is every rd. issued counted and logged somewhere? I could use some.We are instructed what gun Block 22 Gen 4, as well as the ammo that we will carry. Federal HST 40 cal. We get issued ammo twice a year. At six months or so, we shoot off what we carry and load new.
I'm guessing court officer? It's odd that they use the 19 (I heard the brass chose the 9mm because they were told it's safer in confined spaces due to lower penetration) then they chose heavy for caliber bullets. We are only authorized to carry the Glock 19 on duty and the 19 or 26 off duty. I know a guy that has not changed his ammo in about 6 years. They should most likely issue some at each qualification session,You are correct.

Most with a brain that take their job seriously do that. I told him to change it out already! He also bought the oldest technology cheap ammo in 147 rain he could find. The guy is a bit of a clown.I change mine out once a year. We aren't issued ammo but when we qualify we shoot their ammo. It's on us to rotate it. I shoot mine off once or twice a year and then load up fresh ammo.
Good site but what barrel length did they use? A 3 inch barrel affects velocity. A good round on a duty sized pistol may do poorly from a 3 inch barrel with lower velocity.I think this is the best ballistics testing I have ever seen:

Click a cartridge and it will give you all the info. Some of the new Ranger bonded stuff appears to be shit.

I'm not going to say anything bad about anybody...
For us, you'd have to go out of your way to NOT shoot the "old" ammo at each range session. The schedule they keep while you're there pretty much dictates that the ammo already in your firearm/mags, will be shot first.
Now, if you reload at home and plan ahead, there are ways to walk away with 3 free boxes of brand new ammo, but I don't know anything about that.
Glock 19s have less pen than what? Glock 17s? Because someone thinks that .5" actually translates into the real world? I read an article complete with ballistics tests that showed minimal performance difference between 3.5" and 4.5" barrels with modern defensive ammo. Even 3 inch barrle don't give up much real world performance. Its irritating that issuing agencies will lend so much credence to such nonsense. But the Glock 19 is a fine sidearm so no harm no foul I guess.
