.475 A&M Magnum
Sweet...
Thanks! We'll see how it progresses. Definitely post your build if you end up attempting this as well. Thanks now I have to build another upper looks awesome.
I agree. These promag 10/20's are steel. They feed like shit, but if you install Magpul followers they are good to go.I think a fixed 20 round (limited to 10) would look extra sick.
Buttttt those handguards look good
He has two. Can do one fixed mag, and one featureless.asthethically, the fixed mag is nicer. Practically, the second.
$65!!??? Damn. I mean, I'll have to check those out more. I kind of feel that a lot of issues with a fixed mag possibly stem from people tightening the mag down too much. There needs to be some play in the mag. If you watch slow motion footage you can see the mag rocking back and forth as the gun cycles. You went through the trouble of making these, so I say it needs fixed mag with the grip and a2 stock to finish it. If your worried about clearing malfunctions with fixed mag, get a California compmag.
AR-15 CompMag.
They are. It just seems it would be easier with the adjustment tool.I though the sights are adjustable with standard issue ball ammo, stick and spin.
All in all its a pretty cool build Corgi!!!!! I'm with BD, standard stock and fixed mag, very cool!

So cool! I need to find a shortened standard style buttstock like on the 607. That would be sweet. As it is now, I feel like the A2 stock just looks too big for the 16" bbl. It looks great on the 20" bbl, but I'm not really a fan on the 16". An abbreviated version of the stock, like the 607, and we are talking.Just to nerd out here for a second (plus I actually had to look it up), what you kind of having going on here is somewhere between a Model 605 and a 607.
Colt Model 605 carbine
The 605 was Colt's 1st "carbine" variant of the AR15/M16 line. Developed 64-65 it was listed in Colt's 1965 catalog as "CAR-15 carbine". It was basically a standard rifle w/the barrel shortened in front of the FSB to 15", all other parts are the same. There appear to be a number of variations...imageevent.com
Colt Model 607
The 607 was Colt's 2nd "carbine" M16 after the 605 & was the first type to use a retractable type stock to shorten it's length. The 607 used a 10" barrel & the first type retractable stock, they were in Colt's catalog in 1965 listed as a sub-machine gun even though it fired the .223 rifle...imageevent.com

BTW @BDinPutnam, did you say you had an A1 pistol grip (the style without the finger hump) laying around?
Thanks man! I kind of like how it's a mix of old school and new. It jives on the fixed mag lower I have it pictured with, but I will also make the lower with the A2 stock on it a fixed mag as well so I can put an A1 grip on it. If I manage to find a shorter version of the A2 stock, I will go for that too. As far as that C7 stock goes it says its A1 length, so it isn't anywhere near as short as the 607.Nice, I like it! Featureless barrel almost approximates the old "Commando" flash hidey...
That C1 would probably work though I don't know how much shorter it would really make it since it's only 5/8" shorter than an A2. Pretty sure the 607 was shorter than that but I'm not sure what the measurement actually is (and it was the first of the collapsibles). I guess you could theoretically chop it more though you'd probably have to work from the shoulder end in to preserve the dimensions at the tube end... and I'm not sure what you would fill it with. Oh and you'd also have to be careful to preserve enough space for the full tube, of course.
I may be mistaken but I think the West Point museum has a 607 in it's collection; I know they have some very cool (and rare) variants from the series but I haven't been there in several years.
Either way, very cool build, man, just the way it is. It's kind of old school and video gamey all at once. I bet it would look awesome with a beta c drum mag. ETA I think there was something along those lines in Metal Gear Three. FUAC.

That's what corgi's do. They herd.thanks for sending me down the retro rabbit hole, geez... now you have me wanting to do something similar, I always wanted a XM177'ish clone.

Forgot to tag you guys in this, but I have a Pro Mag 10/20 magazine with a Magpul follower installed. I installed it in the fixed mag lower.I agree. These promag 10/20's are steel. They feed like shit, but if you install Magpul followers they are good to go.
