Customizing my Marlin 1895G

I'm sure I'll get a lot of hate for doing this but I'm not a huge fan of wood furniture, especially in the standard lacquer finish.

So far I have removed the stock wood handguard and have replaced it with a Midwest Industries rail and attached a Magpul AFG-2.

I have everything on order and should expect all my parts to arrive by the end of next week.

• XS Lever Picatinny Rail with Ghost Ring Sight set
• Ranger Point Precision Aluminum magazine follower - black nitride
• Ranger Point Precision Takedown screw - black nitride
• Ranger Point Precision Loading Gate Spring - flyweight, black nitride
• 550 Paracord 2-point sling
• Swivel mounts
• Recoil Pad

Update: Here she is completed. I know the Loading Gate is missing, the damned screws are so soft. I over torqued the screw and broke it, a new one (bought four just in case) should arrive tomorrow.

I had to file down the wood below the hammer spur extension since the Boyds stock runs a little higher. The bottom of the bolt would end up making a hard contact with the top curve of the hammer spur.

And I finished it off by drilling and tapping a hole for the rear sling mount on the underside of the Boyds stock.

I go back and forth about the bubba thing. There are guns that were what they were back in the day and it's history that can be respected. Then there's this new technology that makes total sense and gets retrofitted to those old guns...

That being said, Mosin and a kicklite should never meet.

I've been looking into getting an extended tube to increase to 6+1 but I am not sure if I want to mess with cutting down a 22" tube which are used for the Cowboy models.

And MAYBE trying to find one of the octagon shaped barrels like the ones McGowen makes.

It's actually pretty comfortable and smooth to cycle if you wrap enough electrical tape around it... and bonus you can make it any shape you want!
