I flew him and a boat load of Russian Generals around the San Francisco Bay Area in 1989-1990 time frame when he was Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. As a 4 Star general he was pretty cool. I didn’t meet a lot of generals in the first decade of my career so it was impressive to get to meet him. I know a lot of generals now and meeting a 4 star just doesn’t have the awe factor it once had, oh to be young and impressionable again.

I never met him. He had a very impressive military career, may he rest forever well.

He had some sort of cancer that was compromising his immune system. That isn't something he could've just easily cleared up with diet and exercise. That's my understanding here. Just bad timing on multiple threats to his body.

3-5% of cancers are genetic. 95-97% are diet, lifestyle and environment. I'm sure there were things he could have done along the way though. There are other things besides diet and exercise although those things are PART of a healthy lifestyle.

He lied that is a proven fact.
Of course Sadam was an SOB who deserved to be dead better than alive but Bush's Vendetta provides no excuse to lie to the world to engage in endless wars where our finest died and suffered.

A lot of crazy shit was done in the name of freedom.
Instead of trying to sell freedom to those who do not want it we should put more effort to make sure freedom doesnt rot at home.

I guess the military industrial complex needs a useless war every few years in order to keep the moola rolling.

IMO Bush and his minions should be indicted and persecuted in the USA for crimes against the American people and a few others.Obama too.
But, like the Gods themselves, they are immune to everything.

A lot of democrats did not vote for authorization. But that’s beside the point. Bush and his cabal deliberately misled the public and lawmakers. Colin Powell knew he was being asked to promote bullshit and he later admitted that he has to push back on some of the dumber shit he was being asked to espouse at the UN.

Did Bush know for sure no WMD? Doubtful. More he was “eh, maybe…probably…?” But they sold this to congress as a sure thing. It was deceptive and he has never been held accountable and never will.

The USA wanted blood after 911 and Bush never told people to cool their shit down. He was perfectly fine letting people think saddam had some ancillary role in Islamic terrorism—which he never did.

They had to go around since the most in the CIA would not confirm the threat.

They did whatever the fuck they pleased largely unchallend, including massive raping of the constitution.

The Patriot act was the first time the constitution was circumvented to allow massive surveillance domestically wo any warrants or authorization.

The DOJ was blindsided and people with any ethics left resigned.

Do you remember when the AT&T engineer found out the entire network backbone was mirrored w/o any knoledge or warrants? They did the same to google between data centers.

They created the DHS for what?
Do we feel better or safer.?.... Eh... NO!

There is no proof those brutal excesses and expenses did anything for the better. Unlike in the private sector there is zero accountability and nobody is asking for results.
