Does anyone else find themselves looking for other ccw's in public?

It's weird but now that I have my permit (still with restrictions) I find myself looking to see if I can spot another ccw. Even though I'm not carrying yet. Since I've been getting into handguns and learning about cc it's just something I've been doing. Anyone else do this?

Yes, and I thought I spotted one at Cabellas the other day. I was wrong, it was a cell phone in a belt case.

Nope not looking for other CCWs they won't be the problem. I look for the guy acting nervously or deliberately trying to maneuver inbetween me and the exit. Depending on how you are acting I maybe watching you

I'm not looking because I'm worried though. I'm looking just to see if I can spot someone printing.

I'm a pretty harmless guy but I've been told I look like a pissed off grisly bear, and I must because people generally move out of my way when they see me. Someone moving into my path would be very noticeable indeed.

Strangely enough You may end up being the one being watched then. If I see someon I don't now eyeing me they will have my attention.

The other day I was paying for gas in a convenience store when I noticed the guy ahead of me had a Glock at 3 oclock in an OWB holster.
He was in jeans and a tucked in tshirt, a base ball hat, scruffy face and sunglasses.
Im thinking he must be an off duty or undercover cop. However, no badge and no handcuffs.
Is it legal for an undercover or off duty cop to open carry with no visible badge?

I always look for others CCing! I don't go lifting shirts and all! I do it subtly as I walk by, or am standing behind someone in line, etc.! It let's me know who I might be able to rely on if/when the SHTF! It's part of my SA, while I am assessing possible threats!

That's what I'm talking about. I'm not saying I eye fuck someone or hover around them giving them a complete obvious look over. I just mean subtly giving a quick glance where people tend to cc. And like I said, to the given area presented to you, not walking around the person checking them out.

On occasion I do. To be honest I usually can't tell one way or another unless they move in a certain way that clearly exposes the gun. The reality though is that the legal CCWers aren't the ones to worry about. Though it does beg the question: how do you know that somebody carrying is doing so legally or not?

As to the question above of 'how do you know if someone is carrying legally' , I figure that's really none of my business so long as someone isn't acting suspiciously. If someone is acting strangely then yeah of course I'm looking for a gun and will be putting more consideration into paying closer attention.

Unlike probably most of us, I almost always carry OWB under a dress shirt. I imagine I probably do print a little sometimes (maybe especially when bending down in a store or something) but no one has ever called me on it in many years of carrying that way. I figure other gun owners who might notice would probably not worry about it and I think the general populace just plain isn't ever paying enough attention to notice.

I carry at 4 o'clock (OWB) and the gun butt lays very flat against my back. With the proper shirt/jacket, there is no way you would know that I'm carrying!

Yes, it is legal under the penal law for a police or exempt occupational peace officer to do so. However; departmental rules and regulations regarding the carrying of weapons on or off duty come into play.

I don't necessarily look for a cc, but I just watch behavior and look at people in general. Learned from a friend years ago to just be more alert and pickup things here and there, listen to conversations when I can, watch body language, etc. It's a good habit and keeps me from getting bored, but I'm usually too busy being angry at people to be bored.
