It's not impossible, but to try anything fishy on the end-user level will be doomed to failure for any government. Why?
Do you realize how many people jail break phones or software that otherwise is "protected" against vulnerabilities? Do you really think someone isn't going to notice, when digging in places most people don't, that there is unexplained references or calls in code? Unexplained network traffic? Unaccounted for space? You'd have to coordinate, at best, all of these things I'm talking about, at the manufacturing level, to conceal spying at the end-user level (IE, your computer.) You'd have to have CPUs lying about their specs, threads, etc. Disks with mystery space (easily spotted the moment someone opens it and sees modules that don't appear obvious in the diagrams.).

That type of thing gets reserved for high value targets because it's manpower intensive. Sort of like how surveillance used to be done with teams of agents following someone, writing down who they met with, etc. Not enough agents to follow *everyone*, so only "important" targets got that treatment. High manpower surveillance still happens if you are really interesting to the 3 letter agencies, but the big game changer has been technology.
Today with online communications and always connected devices like cellphones (it's actually more of an always online pocket computer than a phone nowadays) they can and do tap backhauls and archive the data in transit. This type of thing is how they do mass surveillance. It doesn't take much manpower to do that, it just takes computing power and storage which has gotten cheaper and cheaper. The big change is technology making logarithmic advances in capability while simultaneously having orders of magnitude drops in prices. As an example, In the early 80's the entire FBI database set was around 1 TB and cost a LOT to store. Today you can go to Best Buy and get a 14 TB hard drive for under $200. It's so cheap to store data that they just store everything and can search it at a later point in time or use real time analytics on it to highlight things that might need an actual person to look at as interesting.

NSA's job is to gather information. So any information that is legal to gain would be considered fair game. They are not conducting investigations , They gather intelligence and filter it and pass it on to the ABC agency's if there's any relevance.

Yes. They harvest everything but the systems will be able to identify all sort of false positives and reclassify them based on crossing attributes from different dimensions and metadata. Also algorithms can segregate chatter from actual risks based on sentiment and narrative classification so in the end people talking politics, discussing sushi recipes, buying lowers, dildos or whatever else, or simply talking shit all day they end up at the bottom of the barrel. So nobody will bother to check or care about this shit we post all day.
I have to belive no. Otherwise I'd surely be in a "federal-pound-me-in-the-ass-prison" by now.
