A couple people use them at my range. The early reports were that they are enough for outside use but not strong enough for indoor use. Also about 50% of them said they were uncomfortable.
Update on those peltor 300s. I wore them for about 2 hours in the freezing cold and after about 15 minutes you wouldn't even have noticed you had them on. They sit very comfortably and didn't need to be readjusted at all through the day. I had them on over a hat and with glasses and it was not an issue. Also had them at max length and I'm about a size 7 7/8 hat in case you needed to know that. Very very comfortable. I wouldnt hesitate to keep these on during cease fires.
As for the electronics, once again very high quality. The only thing i noticed was, due to the wind there was always a slight hum. But because it was due to the wind i barely noticed it, I actually thought that was just something I was hearing and only noticed it as something specific to the ear pro when i took them off.
I didn't see any issue with the current ear pieces. They seemed plenty comfortable for however long I had them on for.
You can be confodent in your choice. Little bonus, they did a good job of keeping my ears warm.Oh good. I ordered them a hour ago
I only double up when indoors. The muffs I posted @24db reduction seem to be fine for outdoors. The nice thing about the electronic muffs is I just leave em on the whole time, I don't have to remove them to talk to people and then get my ears rung by others shooting in the meantime.I've been using a pair of Howard Leight similar to these for just about all my shooting: Howard Leight Leightning LOF Ultraslim Earmuffs (NRR 23 - MPN: R-01523
Had a hearing test a while ago which they said was perfect. Now with all this talk of you guys doubling up on hearing protection you have me worried that I should either be doing that or investing in another type of ear muff.
I didn’t think I had that big of a head. I wear a 7.5 hat!
That’s what I thought lolThat's not a big melon, you're barely a middleweight.
I guess I've got a good sized melon than.XL is typically up to 7 3/4", so if you're bigger than that, you've got a good sized melon.
Did you have the volume turned all the way down? They behave as regular muffs if the volume is all the way down. All the way up and I'm wondering if its what its like to have dog hearing. My indoor pistol range report of the Peltor 300 Sports.
They did a great job cutting off the gunshot. There’s a lot of echo to them. Even my footsteps in taping targets was echoed.
As far as hearing conversation while cutting off the gunshots it’s a no go for indoor range. Still couldn’t hear anything anyone was saying.
Now for the big plus I noticed my ears were not ringing at the end of the night And I was at the range 3 1/2 hours
Not quite dog hearing but I can hear the crunching of my feet on the ground and if someone kicks a shotgun shell I hear that very very clearly.Did you have the volume turned all the way down? Indoors the microphone may get overwhelmed and just not be able to process through just the voice. Kinda like incidental clipping because the voice is at the same or near frequency of a gun shot. But then again I've never used mine indoors either.

Ja, that's them alright. I wonder if the really high dollar MSA Sordins are like that indoors too.
My experience also, they generally don't interfere with my cheek weld and I like to really get down in low and tight with it too.Did outdoor shotgun shooting tonight. Peltor 300 worked just as advertised. Shotgun was just a muffled poof and could hear everyone talking. I don’t usually wear muffs with long gun as they get in the way. These were pretty good fit. If you snapped the gun up you would bump into the muff but otherwise they were good.
@GTN and @Exonautic, those are indeed exactly the ones I have.
These are the gel ear cups I added:

With these (absurdly expensive) ear cups the headset is super, all day comfortable and they seal very well. I wonder if they add to Db reduction at all?
PS,
I also find that they are thin enough to not interfere with my cheek weld.
