As said before, LAWYER. I can't stress this enough. If they show with a court order and you don't have the guns listed on your permit, it could get worse.

As for not getting a lawyer at this point, I am not willing to spend hundred if not thousands of dollars of my hard earned cash over a side hobby of mine. Especially with my dying father to tend to, I believe my money is best spent elsewhere.

Didn't you know your in one of the 57 counties out of 63 that do not support the safe act? The local sheriff is SUPREME LAW of said county, with a sworn oath, who works for the people. So I'm sure your chat at the sheriff's is false info.

OP. If this really did happen, talk to 2A lawyers anyway. They may go Pro Bono or someone else with money that's in the fight may fund the case. Call the NRA or the NYSRPA. That's what they are supposed to be there for.

First things first, I would ask a moderator on this forum to delete this thread based on the statement you made about how you brought guns out of New York state after you were informed of the denial of your rights.

Secondly, follow the advice to hire a lawyer and have the lawyer reach out to the permitting office in the county that your license was issued in.

3rd, the state police have previously stated that they would not prosecute people who did not renew by the deadline if they were unaware of the requirement. However, this goes to show that you cannot trust the Gestapo in New York.

Lastly, please do your best to keep us updated on the situation as this has been a very hot topic for debate around here.

I have a huge collection of firearms (50 handguns alone) so maybe that is why they are so interested in the fact that I did not renew. The only guns in peril are the ones listed on your NY permit but a visit from leos to claim said handguns might endanger the others.

Keep them the F out of NY and all is well.

Well I inherited most of them, and I don't actively pursue activities that I am sure most people here do. So I would still consider this a side-hobby despite my large collection.
