Ever have a bad range day!

C'mon, you did not overhear somone bragging about investing 4k in an 870 lol. I don't think you could blow that much on a pump even if it said Wilson Combat on the side! That aside, yeah, nothing kills the fun on a range day like persistent malfunctions. My Garand does that to me.

Nope. No such thing as a bad day at the range. If I am out shooting, I am happy.Don't care if I hit or not. I am outside, I have guns and bullets. That is a great day to me. If I miss a lot, oh well. Each and everyday is just practice and training!

Are you kidding me? Bad range days are all i've been having lately! LOL. It was too hot this summer to do much shooting... Now I'm paying the price i'm heading out today if it stops raining... Whisper some sweet italian nothings to my beretta.

Hopefully you will come out to New Bremen for our bowling pin shoot.
There will be 4 distance 10 targets each. The pins will be set up on stands and the shooter will move back after each stage. The distances will be 7, 10,15 and 25 yards. Two classes will be stock and open class. I still have to build the target stands for the bowing pins but, hopefully it will be a fun event.

On a few occasions I have had range days so bad that I actually gave away a firearm and said "I never want to see this piece of shit again as long as I live". Then of course the child I give it to says "Gee Dad if it sucks so bad why would I want it?". I toss any bolt gun over about 1 MOA, or any semi over about 2-3 MOA. Life is too short for crap that doesn't work right. If I wanted garbage like that in my life, I would buy a Yugo or Hyundai.

Yes, it happened to be on my birthday this summer. The indoor range was packed, two people side by side shooting shotguns right next to me. The blasts were so annoying and the concussions were shaking my ear drums. One kid around 18-20 maybe with couple of his friends, complete douche, talking about how he had over "$4,000" in his rare exclusive pump Remington 870 shotgun, blasting off rounds like an idiot and thinking he's just so cool and knows what he's doing. On top of that, one of my guns was jamming like a bitch too and I had to rebuild the damn thing. I hate shooting near or being near douchey teenagers, especially dangerous inexperienced ones with guns. God it makes made irritated just thinking about it. I actually wanted to pistol whip him right in the face a few times. I rushed through some ammo and just left.

This Sir is why you want your range on your own land. The only douche I have to deal with is me! LOL

I never bore sighted a rifle. What I do is put a great big piece of cardboard at 25. I check my ballistic calculator and make sure the point of aim point of impact (ie. My 223 is about 1.7 inches low at 25. So i pit a aimibg dot and then have the impact 1.7 low. This gets me very close at 100)

I take the bolt out and look down the barrel if I can. If the gun design doesn't allow that, I bought one of those green dot lasers from Wheeler Engineering at MidwayUSA. My only beef is the thing drinks those stupid batteries like nobody's business. I swear to god some bizarre anomaly exists out here at the farm that sucks the life out of batteries. I'm just waiting for the day I catch Bigfoot cutting crop circles in my field and then I'm done with this place.

Had a bad range day yesterday but a good one today. The AE 55 grain didn't do well in the Wylde barrel today but the Hornady 75 gr Match did quite well. The 55 gr is OK with absolutely no wind; but on a 5-8 mph 45 degree wind the 75 gr was solid and the 55 gr was worthless. I'm going to relegate the 55 gr to use in the Savage bolt action.

Update:
I need to research more on the smith vortex flash hider.
Neighbor says there is a 1/4" gap (internal only) between the muzzle and the flash hider. Initial thought is it shouldn't be that way since it has no way for gases to escape.

Also, receiver not bedded and said whomever torqued down the screws when reassembling they torqued them hardcore and he thinks that is throwing it off. So he is going to work his magic.

I'd say the closest i came to bad range day was when I got a stuck casing in my AR. But a lot of "mortar" action free'd it up. Still wasnt a bad day. Never a bad day if i get shoot, as i'm only able to do it once a year maybe.

Just got back from looking at it. When someone reassembled, they torqued the hell out of those screws. He is going to bed it properly and dial in.

He showed me with the micrometer the difference between the flash hider and the threaded portion of the barrel. I can only imagine that this is not the correct application.

Only when the RangeTards are around. You know the ones who make everyone stop shooting every 2 minutes so they can walk 100 yards to see where they hit.

If im alone with a rangetard I usually make them stop and walk out 200 yards walk back then get almost back to tables and turn around and walk back out again to adjust the target slightly. It usually does the trick.
