The reasoning that they gave is just not to my surprise, complete and utter bullshit. Really? It's actually so fucking stupid though, it's funny! That's the best they could come up with? Stocking up on ammo leads to mass shootings yadda yadda really?... and what THEY made up as their own generalized classification of an "assault weapon" doesn't turn what the owner has into a firearm with no purpose other than to "assault" with, just because that's what they want to call it. Many freedom loving happy law abiding americans in other welcoming states are enjoying sport shooting, defensive protection, competition shooting, and legal worry free ownership with these firearms.
So, If I were classifying something I don't like, and because I don't like it, it serves little or no purpose for everyone else now, and it magically becomes a baby killer? No, it doesn't. That is a blatant unconstitutional suggested proposal and stupid attempt at more gun control which inevitably we know the underlying reasoning for, just like the rest. The translucency here is hilarious.
Want to easily avoid this stupid bill 100% if it passes? Get another gun in the same caliber. I mean really? Many won't mind another excuse to buy another gun if they don't already have another in the same caliber. Even without another gun, how would they possibly inforce this?

if you registered your ar and its in .223 i would bet they would deny you sale of any .223 because you have the AR even if you have a savage bolt .223 .
you want to beat it .. stock up on reloading parts and just reload ..

One it shows that they have no clue about firearms in general. They have no clue that rifles and pistols that are so called AW's come in the same caliber for non so called AW"s.
It also shows that just registering AW's isn't the end game. They want them gone so they'll confiscate in steps so as not to create panic at first. You can keep them just register. You keep them just limit the ammo. You can keep them just pay a yearly fee. You can keep them just pay the raised yearly fee.
If this goes through, it will not be the end. There will be more chipping until you willingly get rid of it.

I don't think so in my opinion. Here's why; right now I can go to a sporting good store and purchase 5.56/.223 off the shelf for myself, walk to the counter pay like anyone else would, then be on my way. Do you think they're going to ask everyone after the bill passes if it's for an "assault weapon" first and have all pistol, rifle and shotgun ammo behind glass because of this bill? It could be any caliber that someone registered. If your purchases are documented like they already are at some big chains, which input your driver's license/permit number, buying the ammo for another legal gun of the same caliber would mean they can't really prove what gun the sale is being made for anyways and technically have no reason to deny you. I believe to make any of this work properly, they'll need another system of some sort in place that would be costly and likely time consuming. As it sits, there isn't anything to back up their plan in anyway.

I kind of like this law and wish it would pass. The dumber the laws the more of an excuse you have to ignore them. Pass a bill banning all ammo detonated by a primer, all guns that hold a magazine, shotgun ammo that fires more than one projectile. Let these idiots drink themselves sober.
