Here is how it worked in Suffolk County. The pistol license section demanded a licensee bring all his guns it to be checked. He lived a long way from the station, but worked nearby. So he took all his pistols to work and left locked in the trunk of his car. He then took to station at his appointment time. Pistols checked out ok. Then he put them all back in his locked trunk and went back to work. Officer Friendly from the pistol section followed him back to work. Then suspended his license because he had not taken the guns directly from home to the station and the directly home from the station.

The pistol license officers are complete power hungry assholes and the state law allows it. Remember in NY its a "privilege" not a right to possess a pistol. Never mind that this is completely contrary to Heller v D.C. But that is a decision of the United States Supreme Court. Only applies in the United States of America. Not here in the People's Republic of New York.

Seems like many people, upon seeing a pistol carried Open, just assume that it is either okay or the gun toter is a co.
Most people have no idea of the laws in NY State, assumptions are made all of the time. It is actually a great social experiment, just act like all is Okay and most go on with their day. I would not recommend doing this in the bigger cities or in an area where the cops are dicks. Most local cops could care less, many don't even notice.
CO GOP? You mean corrections officer. I thought that a bit of an odd statement unless of course you are a CO and live in an area where is a prison. Having lived downstate for a number of years one never heard of CO's as there were few prisons near. Now upstate where I live there are plenty of prisons and CO's are my neighbors. You see them going to work in uniform, grabbing coffee at the local shops and it is quite normal.
I see people carrying weapons some times but not often. No one cares because it is normal here. Now if you were downstate openly carrying
someone just might drop a dime on you and the local PD who would send out an officer to check you out. You would show him your carry license

Funny thing in NY State. There are exemptions in the Law that allow some to carry a gun without a permit.
Law Enforcement for example. Most departments do not require the officer to have a Pistol Permit, some do. The Penal Laws do not talk about these exemptions at all in regards to "Have and carry concealed". The Carry Concealed refers only to Permit Carriers. No where in the States' laws do they discuss the Open Carry of an off duty officer who chooses to Open Carry. Is it legal??????

This is everyday, not just a rare occurrence. Maybe I am wrong, things just are so very different than anything that I remember from years past.
Went to Best Buy this morning to buy a Shredder. We were out front waiting for the store to open and their was this older woman standing near me also waiting for the store to open. Big ass "Hours" sign that says they open at 11am. So after about two minutes she starts banging on the door to get a workers attention. Bestbuy employee comes to the door and inquires on why she is pounding on the door. She starts a rant that the store should be open now, she is handicapped and can stand too long. The guy says we open in less than ten minutes. She asks if they have a motorized cart for her to use, he replies, "No, we do not have those." She continues the rant about how is she expected to shop? Again with the Age and Handicapped thing. He says, "I have no idea" and closes the door. She keeps going on about it to anyone who will listen, she looks at me and tries to engage me, I look at her and say "I really do not care, you should have taken better care of yourself when you were younger". Oh, BTW, she was a rather large woman.

People often wonder why police officers touch the tail light of a vehicle when they are pulled over. This practice sprang from the risk that police officers are exposed to when on the road to implement traffic laws.
In general, police officers touch the tail light of the vehicles in order to leave their fingerprints on it. This is to secure proof that the officer did approached the vehicle. In case the officer finds himself in a dangerous situation while pulling over the subject vehicle, fingerprint evidence would prove that he was present in the scene and that evidence will lead investigators to the vehicle and to the owner thereof. This safety precaution has been practiced by police officers in the country for decades.

"So its with their toys and you didnt even know where it was?" I asked.
She got mad and asked where the gun was.
I told her I forgot where I put it, just like she forgot where she put it.
The point is that there are alot of kids that come to their house and even if her 5yr old knows better, other kids dont.
