Slang term of a "casual" fun owner: eg:a person who typically owns guns for hunting or shotgun sports and does not truly believe in the true premise of the second amendment. These people also generally treat owners/users of socalled "non sporting" firearms like handguns or semi automatic rifles with unwarranted scorn or contempt.

A Fudd will say things like who needs an AR-15.
They generally are subject to group speak and just don't have a clue.

I used to deal with these people every hunting season when I worked at Gander. They were a different type of gun owner. I did not like dealing with them at all.

I had this one guy come into the store just before the season started with an issue. His issue; he left a round in his shotgun after the previous season. There was some wetness to the gun prior to storing it for the year. The round rusted in the chamber of his gun. We got the round out for him. While the round was being removed, he got into a discussion about all the pistols we had in the cases. He could not understand why anyone would need to carry a pistol!

And that asshole came into a corporate busy sporting goods store with a loaded shotgun with defective, issue laden shell still waiting to pop at any time?? Fucking crazy scary!

Why the hell would anyone brag about something like that? Was this right after the SAFE act? I went went on an extended forum hiatus not long after that and I don't remember this?

I overheard a FUDD in our local gun shop. He was telling the counter guy that if you need to carry a pistol, you must be an asshole. Then he talked about the usual stuff. "You must be scared of something", "Youre going to shoot your family".....
Then, he says to the counter guy, who is wearing a Peacemaker style revolver, "you know, most cowboys didnt wear a gun, thats a myth."
The counter guy says, "Im not a cowboy"
This guy was buying a tree stand, probably for bird watching.

I know a FUDD gun shop. Almost 100% of everything has some type of wood stock or furniture on it. That's fine, but not appealing to modern interest in the urban community. When the owner mentioned as a generalized statement why nobody should be carrying concealed because of liability purposes, and the fact I was being treated without too much respect because I was merely younger than the majority of CCW holders, I knew I wasn't ever going to do business with him anymore. For an instance, he was trying to sell me a concealed handgun while simultaneously telling me why I shouldn't carry it? And is if assuming I wasn't already carrying a handgun at that time. Very stupid in my opinion.

LGS nearest me is owned by a couple FUDDS, but at least they're good people and not condescending. (Well, maybe a little at first, but that's because they've still got that old-timer mindset about little ladies having guns. They're coming around. I pop my head in every now and then, keep my mouth shut on most of the more political-gun stuff - AR's specifically. They've finally gotten used to me, lol.) Can't buy any 5.56 there, though.

A fudd is someone who own a semiauto rifle, but only has one magazine for it and can't see why anyone would need more.

Yep..point fingers....add a new name....discourage participation....that's how the liberals got US to where we are today. IF any of US were truly interested...we'd organize...rally..protest in numbers...(just like minorities,gays etc).and fight this rather than "wishing" pointing fingers,making up names, and "hoping" people register to vote to support the 2nd amendment. None of "US" have done that to date. This "FUDD" crap is a joke.

Although some don't like it, I've definitely met a few of these. Don't care about anyone and their shooting rights unless it's regarding turkey or deer shotgun/rifle. AR's, conceal carry pistols, long range shooting rifles, big calibers? Nope, don't give a shit because it doesn't apply to them. They won't vote for you to have 2A rights because they think they're good to go w/ their hunting gear and that's all that matters. It's like the people who didn't like violent video games, MMA, rock music, etc. They don't like it, so it shouldn't be a thing. Close-minded to a T.
