Generals taking over!?

Curious for input.

I was watching the different news channels today and it seems like many Americans are very concerned that the Trump has tagged three Generals to hold some pretty important spots in our Government.

I am more than fine with it. I love the idea of so many Military guys running things.

Anyone concerned about this? If so, why?

As long as they were generals who take the Constitution seriously and answered "NO" to the question of "Would you fire on American citizens if ordered to?", then I am fine with them as cabinet choices.

Lemme see....hmmmm....we can have retired top military officers that have served in active combat in defense of the United States' interests and our constitutional republic who want to see our troops fight, win, and come home, or.....we could have had erudite isolated ivory tower Northeast elitists slavishly beholden to their political benefactors for power and position at the expense of everything for which this nation was founded.

Generals are goal orientated people, they tend to be asked to do something and do everything in their power to accomplish the mission.

They tend not to finesse anything, if a 105mm is good then a 2000 GBU is better.

Generals tend to be yes men. They either say yes or they get fired/resign.

You remember the warning Ike gave us about the military industrial complex? There is a real danger when the civilians running the place have very close ties to the leaders in militaries they run. A military coupe is a real possibility when leaders of the presidents cabinet are still fresh from the military that they were beloved in.

Will it happen? Nobody knows. Can it happen? Most definately.

Generals and police chiefs also tend to believe in gun control. One reason is they know what an armed population is capable of doing. The other is they think they will be allowed to retain "their guns" when everyone else is being disarmed. They also are fond of intelligence and may leverage all the tools they can to gather that intelligence.

I am not opposed to generals in civilian positions of government, I am just aware there is a potential for disaster.

I certainly would rather have President Donald Trump appointing these Generals, than hitlery doing it.
I would rather see Generals who understand what it means to protect America, instead of some piece of shit like john kerry, (just to name one!!).

I have had the pleasure of working with, more like working for, a couple of Generals. One was a complete Douche bag, the other was a very fair man. Most that I had any contact with, I could have gone either way. I met General Schwarzkopf on two different occasions, very good man.

The only pick that has raised my eyebrow is the Homeland Security chief. I would have preferred someone like Sherrif Clark. It is very important that homeland security see themselves as a civilian law enforcement agency and not a quasi-military occupation force.

As far as I am concerned, these are all good men. And frankly, if he appointed Ronald McDonald, that would be a better choice than Pelosi, Reid, and the rest of the asshats of the Obummer administration.

I was stationed at Fort Bliss Texas back in the early 90's. They used to send about a Company or so worth of young Privates to assist the Border Patrol. We would be placed in key areas and look south through NOGS. If we saw anything, we called the Agents in to do what they do. We did this for about four months. Different times though. The Army was using it as a training aid and the Border Patrol received a bit of assistance.

Could it be that appointing generals is a bold statement since we have been weakened to the point of becoming a laughing stock? Foreign governments like Russia buzz our ships and governments like Iran are bold enough to hold our troops hostage and bribe us out of billions of dollars to release hostages and to stop their nuclear programs.

I agree he is making picks that he believes will serve to bolster the US both domestically and internationally. The danger of a coup is not the president elect is trying to start one is that one would be carried out against him. Then again that might be the reason he is picking generals that retired or were fired on Obama's watch, To protect him from the current crop of Obama's generals.

The only one that has peaked my curiosity is the DHS pick, I hope he does not pick either Petraus or Romney for SoS, both of those men would send the wrong message to different groups.

US military operations on US soil against US citizens is emphatically prohibited by the Constitution. It's already been happening here and there but anything overt should be seen as Paul Revere's warning ride. Scrutinize everything, overlook nothing, trust no one, keep your powder dry and your gear ready.
