Generals taking over!?

My tinfoil hat is on tight most of the time. Sometimes it's on too tight where it gives me headaches.

But some of the the stuff I've read here and at other places ( not you @dsdmmat ) is beyond foil. Some of you guys are wearing pure aluminum alloy helmets that weigh in excess of 50 pounds.

I have no military service, so my prospective is pretty much outside looking in. I have no issue with Trump's choices. I think of the spineless academia types that Barry chose and I take comfort in knowing these guys have given their all of America. I take that to be a good thing. I'm not ready to cite conspiracy stuff just yet. They may not be great at their position in the cabinet but their skills are needed to right the ship. YMMV.

You guys all have really good insight, with so many of you coming from a military background. And everything you guys have said is very reasonable.

Having a cabinet stacked with generals does make me a bit uneasy. Probably because we've never had so many at once? (Or have we?) It's just a gut feeling... maybe it's coming from an association with military coups? Or Obummer's military purge?

Rationally, It makes sense for military men to have oversight on military matters- like sec of defense. Emotionally though i'm a bit uneasy about it.

Just my feminine intuition.

We are all a bit uneasy. Most likely because we brought in an outsider so it isn't status quo. What Trump is doing is mostly not status quo or what people expect or are used to.

What's really strange (to me, at least) is that i never even considered the possibility of a military coup until obama's second term. Perhaps that's still completely unlikely (you military guys would know better than I on that one.)

Do I think a attempt at a military coup is a possibility? Yes, but it would be difficult to be successful. There would have to be some other pressure to convince the enlisted to fight, i.e. natural disaster, external invasion, rioting against homeland military targets. I think i just need to turn off the History Channel. I finished a documentary last night that covered the plot(s) between the Vatican and Hitler's generals to assassinate Hitler and overthrow the 3rd Reich. Interesting stuff... but probably a bit too much fodder for my imagination.

Those generals are combat vets and seasoned, They know how to get things done. It's the non combat generals that scare me. We will be fine with Trump's picks for the cabinet. There may be some shuffles in the first couple of years, but I bet it won't be the generals. They know what to do.

My insight (such as it is)? I didn't meet all that many Generals, no enlisted soldier wants anything to do with anyone that high up, but the ones I did meet came across as out of touch and arrogant. But anybody in a place of power would be. That said Generals in Trumps administration doesn't bother me. Officers above major rank are glorified bureaucrats anyway.
