OK,I'm missing something here.In your scenario the cop who arrests him is an "oathbreaker" how?Seems to me he kept his oath.
Forget oath,in my case if I let the woman go because of my 2a feelings and she ends up shooting somebody in the ghetto she was sure to return to that night after bailing out her gang bangin cousin the first thing she's gonna scream about is how I said its ok for her to have her gun.So you expect I'm gonna risk my job and livelihood for some schmuck that bought an illegal gun into the state because I believe in the 2A?Fuck her and in this case her 2A rights.

How is that keeping an oath? The oath was to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic. The 2nd Amendment is in the Constitution. It's supposed to be defended. The oath taken wasn't to defend the Sullivan Act along with Penal Laws 265 and 400 in NY for crimes that aren't crimes in other states.

Unfortunately, the way our system of law is set up, if the Supreme Court issues a ruling on a subject then it is settled law for the time being.

I understand that. That also doesn't make it right. Those that gave such rulings are domestic enemies of the Constitution. The oath requires you to protect against that. What other way to do that other than arresting those enemies or ignoring those enemies?

It may seem ridiculous to you but the oath isn't just words you say without meaning.

Uhh, yes, that is still breaching the oath.

"Not risking your livelihood" means that you prefer being bought and paid for over actually standing up for principles. That's fine, most cops do. But don't lie and pretend you have principles.

You already bought well into the anti lie that if you "let them go" they will go murder somebody with an illegal gun. You know what else might happen? They could be killed because you decided that your job and quick money was more valuable than upholding the constitution.

I'm man enough to admit that I violated my oath when I was a sworn peace officer in the city of NY. I didn't know any better. We conducted illegal searches on people that didn't want to be admitted into the hospital, collared patients in the emergency room that has switch blades, arrested a few cops from Jersey who were caught carrying before LEOSA, and other things. I'm not proud of these things I have been involved in both directly and indirectly.

What were we all trained to do when given an unlawful order? Arresting someone for possession of an assault rifle , because its an assault rifle is on its face an unconstitutional act . the fact that the supreme court says it is legal doesn't change the fact that the law is in conflict with the constitution.

If the supreme court were really doing the job they were given , interpreting the constitutionality of the law, these laws wouldn't even be on the books .

What is the intent of the law? What is the sprit of the law? Was the intention of the founders that only certain classes of people could own weapons? Do you need the supreme court to tell you? Do you know right from wrong? Do you need a politically appointed judge to tell you? Your reasonable men , you know what the answers are. The problem is how to resolve it without getting canned .
