Getting out of Dodge, Looking for House to Rent

Hello my fellow 2A brothers. I’m reaching out to see if anyone can help me out. Me, my wife and kids want to leave our home and head north or west until this corona virus dies down. The Shit is gonna hit the fan downstate soon and I don’t want to be here when it does. I have the mortgage on hold for 90 days and just want somewhere safe where we can hole up until for a few months. (Just need an internet signal for work) If you or anyone you know has a house or cabin you can recommend for rent, I would be very interested. Looking to get at least 90mins to 2 hours away from NYC. If anyone knows anything and can help please PM me.

If one is not where they need to be (home) it is a bit too late for other plans.
The best and safest way is to stay put at your place and follow all the safely procedures like millions of people around the glove.
Much better than leaving one's known environment is getting into additional disruptions and unnecessary risks.
Go get some groceries wearing your mask and gloves and wash the clothes and shower after and then keep every loved one away
from others.
This perception one can outrun a virus is absurd. One might run from one place right into an infectious place either at the destination
or on the road.
Unless you are saying your current home has been contaminated.

You are free to travel, but not to be a burden to people who live somewhere you don't. There aren't many grocery stores as it is, and to deal with and artificial population increase because of people fleeing downstate, makes it worse for everyone. It is like buying property next to an airport and then crying about the noise.
People should know these situations are a possibility that comes with living in an urban areas. Maybe they should have have prepared with food and such at a bug out locale.

It is not a huge problem if you avoid contact. Stay away from other people and areas/touching things others are doing.
If everyone followed these instructions 2 or 3 weeks ago the rate of acceleration of the spread would be much slower.

education and discipline are great antidotes for ignorance and chaos.

Obvoiusloy local and federal goverments are not helping with this as they have been 3 weeks or more too late like most of the world.

I don't know where you guys are coming up with this stuff, but it's a pipe dream, at best. There are no road blocks and nobody has to show papers to travel in the United States, let alone in their home state. Nobody is being "shipped" anywhere. If you get sick or injured you will be treated in the closest appropriate medical care facility.

Get out of the house and get some fresh air. Staying cooped up inside is starting to go to your heads.

I don't think the reasoning for wanting to leave downstate is the thought of "outrunning the virus".

I think for most including myself it's getting out before there is a collapse of society. I personally think it's only a matter of time before crime starts getting higher and downstate becomes unsafe.

As it is right now, NYC EMS calls have increased about 2500 calls from what the daily average was prior to Covid-19; used to be approximately 4600 daily, yesterday the last call was 7111. Keep in mind these numbers are with assignments holding for over 2 hours.

It's only a matter of time before people start freaking out, supply chain breaks down and violence ensues. I'm sure that the criminal element being release from Riker's Island won't help either.

It's not about some of us being uninformed as you say. It's others we have to worry about which in turn will affect us.

I'm also sure crime is at a low because half of the shit is not reported these days. While I appreciate NYPD, these days they are afraid to do anything largely in part of our dickhead mayor not having the departments back.

where are you gonna go ? The whole state is infected, last Friday my county was at 100, now as of today 225, the whole state is ready to pop like a zit. Stay home, only go out when necessary, and by necessary for things you need not scratch offs and Wendy’s. Wear gloves, wear a face mask, keep your distance from people to reduce the chance of airborne transmission . Stay out of densely populated places like supermarkets during peak hours. Use the eraser end of a pencil to hit the buttons on atms, and don’t leave your trash at the atms. If your looking for wilderness and farmland you won’t find it till you hit Columbia county

OP asked where he could go. Your response was that there are restrictions in your county and that they have no cases and are going to keep it that way. You implied that he couldn't come to your county. Any reasonable person can see it. That was false and misleading, and you know it.

No,. You are wrong. The person became infected, traveled to Delaware County, tested positive and was transferred to the care of the NYC Dept. Of Health. Was right in the local news paper. So, there it is, whether or not you believe it.
